To think that 10 years old is too young to have your own ipad?

A friend has just bought her 10 year old son an ipad 2 to play games on. Is this the norm for kids that age to have ipads or am I just getting old?

sorry not over the space hopper, had a bad experience with one when young :(
However am over the DCs ability to do somersaults on the trampoline, I can no longer :( is fun trying tough
My DCs steal my iPad all the time so a little over that too

My DD (3.11) is always trying to get her mitts on mine... If I could afford it, I'd buy her one too

Oh, and she has a space hopper too...
