AIBU to take a 3 year old, 4 in November, to see The Lion King?
He happily sits through cinema films, but The Lion King is almost 3 hours long......

DH thinks its a waste of money at this age but it won't be on forever!?

Mine absolutely loved this film at that age. However, I'd be more concerned about keeping the 3D glasses on than the length of the film. Mine are nearly 5 and we've so far avoided 3D films for this reason - they cost alot more and if they won't keep the glasses on, it is a real waste of money.

Waste of money imo, it's been on for 12 years, they'd give plenty of notice as to when it will close.

Plus, if I were a 3 year old the costumes would scare the heck out me!

Yes, I think it is a waste of money. Indeed, it won't be on forever but it's not coming off anytime soon and is also about to go on tour. Unless you have lots of spare cash, just wait until your ds is a bit older.

On the website it says they will admit over 3 but that it isn't recommended t under 5s.
I wouldn't do it myself - I take my lot to a the theatre a fair bit but would start off with more age appropriate, shorter shows then build up to a big one like this. They won't even remember it at that age!

My ds saw it when he was 4.6 and loved it, but I don't think my dd would have sat through it at that age.

I took my almost 6 year old daughter last year she has a decent concentration span but was getting fidgety about 30minutes before the end. IMO I wouldn't take him (dd2 is 4.5 and I am delaying taking her till next February)

If you want to take him to a show in London wait until Christmas and take him to see the 'snowman' at the Peacock. It is amazing and my dd went to see it for the first time at 3.3 and loved it - she asked to go and see it the next year too!

oh and taking dd2 to see peter pan on ice for her 1st experience as that is closer to home and her favourite story

Saw Lion King for the first time myself a few months ago and loved it. Can't wait to take DD but am thinking will wait for her 5th birthday next March. I think tbh she would sit through and enjoy now but I have a small doubt and the tickets are so expensive. Would hate to ruin anyone elses enjoyment of it with a fidgety child.

Did someone say it was being re-released in to the cinema?? Would love to take her to that.

Well, I took DD1 to see it when she was 4 and she loved it. It's utterly amazing btw, don't care if it has been on for 12 years. DD always was good at sitting watching films and stuff though. We took her to the panto for her second birthday.Shock

I don't think they let 3 year olds in. When I took my DD 3 years ago, she had to be 4. Might be the end of the debate!

Bellie, just googled the snowman! Thanks so much, looks amazing - DD1 is obsessed with the film and the book and will be 3.4 in December - is it a long show? As we'd have to either take DD2 or one of us take her elsewhere if she couldn't manage it.

Our little boy sat through it when he was 3.4 and loved it. He still remembers and talks about it now a year and a half later. You know your DS best though so if you think he can, likely he will! Enjoy (as I loved it too!)

Sorry - just come back to this - the show is about 90 mins with an interval. It is one of the best shows that I have seen and I sat there with tears in my eyes as they 'flew'. Would recommend it 100%

DS was 10 months when we took him - he was a bit restless by the end of the first 40 mins but dh took him to crawl and jump up the stairs at the interval and then he was fine for the second half. Lots of music and dancing!

I took dd when she was 6 with a coach trip.

Near to us were two children aged about 3 & 4. They became hysterical during the stampede and had to be taken out they didn't return after the interval.

It is a fantastic show with wonderful costumes but tickets are very expensive and in my opinion is too dark for a 3 year old. DD shed a few tears when Simba's father's ghost appeared but was otherwise fine.
