To be in tears about the riots in Croydon

... watching the coverage tonight - West Croydon, just a mile from where I am, ablaze.

What's wrong with these people, wanting to destroy the jobs, lives and homes of the people who live there? It's such a deprived area anyway.

DS (7) is sobbing with fear because my SIL and their cousins live 200 yards from West Croydon station. Apparently there are gangs of youths with knives walking down their road.

Sad Sad Sad

Sorry NotADude, I've only been listening a short time.

Don't be sorry for misunderstanding, sorry for the guy and his family, though

The riots were happening almost on my doorstep earlier, I was standing at the window watching smoke rise and poilce cars go by and I was frightened and sad. It's all quiet round here now, but seems to be getting worse in some areas. Very, very sad Sad

Another one from Sanderstead here. I've heard that Tesco's in Purley and Sainsbury's, Comet, PC world and TK max on the purley way have all been looted.
What a very sad situation.

I was out working the Norwood side of Thornton Heath this evening, when I finished and was waiting for a bus at the top end of WHite Horse Lane you could see the smoke from the town centre. So I ended up having to walk home (all the way from Thornton Heath to Wandle Park after three hours of walking anyway, lucky me...), which was probably one of the more unnerving nights of my life. Buses were not running beyond Thornton Heath, and the smoke was alarmingly thick (like cough-inducing thick) by Hogarth Crescent.
I am sorry about Reeves Corner though, it was a lovely building and a real part of the area's heritage.
