"There'll be riots"

So are the youth club closures to blame for the riots in Tottenham as some people on FB/Twitter believe?

spooks you would not be saying that if that was your shop, house that they set fire to or looted would you. Sorry, but I do not feel sorry for these thugs, there is no excuse for their dispicable behaviour.

We are not talking about being perfect nobody is, but not everyone acts like wild feral animals with no regard for others or the society in which they live do they?

'By the way - the guy the police killed was guilty of shooting a police radio, hardly a reasonable police response to so-called criminality. The police are the criminal thugs'

This has got to be by far the most ridiculous comment I've ever seen. So by virtue of the fact that the guy was a piss poor shot, he's not a criminal? Because I'm rather thinking he wasn't AIMING at the radio, which was most likely being either carried or worn by the police officer at the time. Hmm

It's not like the officer said "oh no, I won't defend myself, he's probably just aiming for my radio...." Hmm

Police officer is an OCCUPATION. POLICE are not criminal thugs, as it is simply an occupation. PEOPLE are criminal thugs. I imagine there are good cops and bad cops, just like there are good public citizens as well as bad ones. The guy who got shot - I'd be inclined to believe that HE is the criminal thug in this scenario.

The looters are not much better. Yes, it is frustrating to see youth programmes closed down and funding for things cut. But does that excuse harmful and unlawful behaviour, running riot? No. I also believe that there are far too many people that have been raised in an absence of a moral compass, sadly.

"rIf you're down for making money, we're about to go hard in east london tonight, yes tonight!! I don't care what ends you're from, we're personally inviting you to come and get it in. Police have taken the piss for too long and to be honest I don't know why its taken so long for us make this happen. We need a minimum of 200 hungry people. We're not broke, but who says no to free stuff. Doesn't matter if the police arrive cos we'll just chase dem out because as you've seen on the news, they are NOT ON DIS TING. Finders keepers and we all look after each other so if you see someone getting grab by feds then make sure we help stamp out that fuking PIG. M.O.B money over bobbies =D broadcast this to everyone you know and let's get paid!! RE SEND. LONDON MESSAGE"

Oh yes, it's all about the youth club or local tuck shop shutting down. Obviously.

Triggles: further official information has been released. It shows that all the initial reports, no matter how apparently well-sourced at the time contained errors.

Mark Duggan's was not shot in the head. Only two rounds were fired, both by the police. One hit him in the chest, the other in the arm. It seems likely that one of these ended up somehow in the radio (that bit wasn't terribly clearly put).

A non-police weapon, capable of firing live ammunition, was at the scene.

No further information has been released, so there is nothing (yet) to show if events during the stop would have led the police reasonably to think they were in imminent danger.

It was an Operation Trident operation - this is a specialist unit dealing with black gun crime. There is no information on this specific operation, or why it led (correctly, in a narrow sense) to the holder of this illegal weapon.

Thank you for the updated information, however, I also stand by my previous comment. When they are going by the info they had, anyone that thinks someone that shoots a police radio (being worn by a police officer) is not a criminal, has a soft spot between the ears.
