Is there a law that means I am the only who can decide what we have for dinner?

Is there? Where is it? In the Magna Carter, Domesday Book? Can someone show me that it is the law of the land that only Mum's can decide on what to have for tea and all thy betrothed and thy off-spring stand there gormlessly without thought or opinion.

saythatagain our meal plan is based around trying to have a better balance of meats/fish etc and doesn't take into account breakfast or lunch (except for weekends) as neither of us have breakfast or lunch at home. However:

Mon: Poultry
Tues: Fish
Weds: Vegetarian
Thurs: Poultry
Fri: Fish
Sat: (lunch) Veg (dinner) Poultry
Sun: (lunch) Veg (dinner) Red meat

So on any day I at least know whether we should be having a veg or red meat course etc. (though we don't strictly follow it, but it does help to keep in mind how much of what we're eating and narrow down our options each day).
I pretty much just have a list of the recipes I know and have cooked before, so can go through the list to decide what we're having. I also made OH look through my cookbooks and put traffic light coloured post-it notes for whether he definitely will not like, would like to try, or will definitely like certain recipes (which may make me sound a bit odd/controlling? But I was taking over an hour to decide on recipes before!).
Sometimes I use www.supercook.com/ to find a recipe for the ingredients we have as well.

For today's dinner I know it should be poultry, so looking down my list will either be doing greek style chicken with side salad (though that means buying veg!), butter chicken (but we've had curry twice this week), or caribbean chicken soup (also involves shopping). Or I might make him happy and do cornbeef and egg hash and do poultry tomorrow Wink

If it's your job to decide what to eat, why on earth are you asking opinions? Just decide and do it! My DH does most of the cooking and sometimes if I ask him for a coffee he says he'll make it if I decide what's for dinner! So he very sensibly barters out his duty to me. Clever man.

I think for most people here it isn't our "job", it's something that's been forced upon us unwillingly, and which we get fed up with. I think most people also have a desire to do something nice and make those we love happy (by choosing food they like), hence why we get hung up with trying to find recipes they'll like and therefore ask for opinions.
