To tell you this story because dh will kill me if I tell it in RL

In a self-righteous bloke way he wouldn't let me go near our new washing machine, HAD to connect/ manouvere it in himself. Plus the manual is for wimps.

Cue much nagging checking from me that he knows what he's doing, everything's ok etc.

I've been upset until today as on spin the machine jumps and bashes around like mad, unusable smacking off the walls. Tried stuffing newspaper down the side etc. and so upset that I'd bought such crap.

But then doubt set in. I thought, no he couldn't have...

But yes he hadn't moved the bolts that hold the drum in place during transit! Runs like a mouse now I've removed them, thank god the drum didn't just fall out on the floor or anything.

How should I enjoy ripping the piss breaking this news to him upon his return as the little wife who doesn't understand big man complicated machinery :-)

my DH did exactly the same thing except he fitted it and put a load in while i was at work then rang me in a right panick because the machine was jumping around and water was gushing out. lucky for him he had the mess cleaned up before i came home but i will never let him forget!!

My DH did the same in a house we have let, which is 30 miles away.

We called out a repair man as he did not want to drive there and not be able to fix it.

It cost me £50, I will never let him forget.

Check the transportation screws, my DH did exactly the same but didn't take out the transportations screws which made it ilterally move across the room and flood every time it was used

I'm afraid it's not just men who do this - I had the same problem. However we didn't call anyone out for about 2 years (of very loud washing) - when the repair man came, he just laughed at me and was too kind to charge - big oops!

Still, I would have to tell everyone if DH had done it

dh was unhooking the washer when we moved, i asked him if he knew what he was doing and he said he did (ive done it before) he didnt.... and got piss wet through and had to shout me to come and shut the water off

Hee hee. Last year my husband decided at 11.00pm to take the pipes off the old washing machine as the new one was being delivered the next day. We had a hot and cold feed on the old machine which (he discovered) were permanently 'on'. Unfortunately the pressure of the water coming out of the pipe was so great he couldn't attach the pipe to the back of the machine once he'd taken them off. He YELLED for me to turn the water off but the tap to the cold feed was jammed AS WAS THE MAINS WATER TAP. I hurtled round to the neighbour, who, being a similar 'diy-expert' to my husband, attempted to whack the tap to the washine machine shut but only suceeded in whacking the whole tap head off. I eventually got the cold pipe back in the back of the machine, then spent 2 hours mopping up/hairdrying lino. Made several phone calls to plumbers in the morning (who fitted new taps and freed the mains water tap) then cancelled the delivery of the machine til the next day.

Last week hubby decided to 'break down' a lump of concrete (with next door's sledge hammer) in the garden whilst I was out with the kids. Took him two hours to break into chunks. Then took me four hours to get tiny lumps of razor sharp concrete out of the lawn. There was so much concrete dust I was afraid that it might stick when it rained! Have to admit, in the end I hoovered it up with the pipe attachment! Took 3 hoover bags full.

DH is much the same. He refuses to read any instruction manual, preferring to Use The Force to guide him. This method involves quite a lot of swearing. I'm not sure Yoda would approve...

I had these 3 small cube frames I was about to chuck out! Little black boxes from Ikea with cracked glass fronts from an old school art project. There is a bolt in each and they are lined up in front of TV. I was randomly laughing all night. Told him any lip and I give them to his workmates!

I had been with new DP for six months when I moved house. Had previously lived alone so was quite happy to do minor plumbing, DIY etc myself.
However he insisted he'd plumb the washing machine in for me. Which he did... to the hot water supply. Thereby ensuring every wash was a boil wash!
Apparently my machine was "different" to his.
