I went to the doctor to see about giving up smoking, becaue I want to and also because I want to get pregnant. So I go and discuss this, I am a heavy smoker and have tried and failed with patches &c before but to no avail - in fact the only time I HAVE given up is when I was pregnant with my son. My doctor prescribes Champix - apparently very effective for the hard core addict. So I buy this, £7 or whatever the prescription is, and read leaflet at home. DO NOT TAKE Champix if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Great.

No and i don't want her to. I KNOW it's my responsiblty - but I DID have a long discussion about the situation and options - and then she prescribed the unsuitable drug! But I am taking the other points of view on board. Bed now - night! Cx

I'm on medication that is not supposed to be used if you are planning to become pregnant. But apparently it's not that big a deal if you do get pregnant on it as there have been no reported ill effects in babies who have been conceived when their mothers took my meds not knowing they were pregnant yet.

Perhaps your GP knows this about the meds she's given you. Worth asking.

Or you could just stop smoking and save yourself the agro. I ca't drink on the meidcation I take, at all. it makes me very very sick if I do. so that's it, gone, no more alcohol for at least 3-4 years for me. If you want something badly enoguh..... you'll sort it yourself.
