... to not get an iPhone

DP thinks its absolutely essential that I get an iPhone, and would be upset if I didn't. I think I don't need it, and even if I did, there are plenty of other phones that are better and cheaper

AIBU?

YANBU. My perogative is as long as I can make/take calls and send/recieve texts, I have no need for an iPhone. Saying that I usually forget to take my mobile with me on most occasions anyway and it's nice to go to an appointment/out shopping without anyone phoning me about minor things. It's great to have peace for a bit.

OatcakeCravings · 03/08/2011 16:13

YABU, without a shadow of a doubt! ;)

Continuum · 03/08/2011 16:27

YANBU You should get an Android phone!

babyocho · 03/08/2011 16:35

Get a decent phone, get an Android. I was an iPhone user for over 2 years and my driod is far more fun, and I dont feel like an Apple clone.

SnotandTears · 03/08/2011 16:36

I think they're ugly. HTC's look much better. I can't afford either unfortunately but if I could, I'd get a HTC.

greenlegs · 03/08/2011 16:40

My dh is also pressuring me into getting an ipad and iphone, having let an ipad turn him from his android gadgets. I'm quite happy with my android/samsung thing but I am wondering if i'll ever be able to make video calls to an iphone with it. Anyone here know?

thursday · 03/08/2011 16:45

i have an iphone, dh has an HTC. mine is cheaper, better and doesn't need charging as often. other than that they're much of a muchness i think, and regardless YANBU for getting a phone you want rather than one that's expected of you by someone else.

BertieBotts · 03/08/2011 17:12

You could try via skype, greenlegs?

ZonkedOut · 03/08/2011 17:51

My DH has an iphone, I have an android phone. The iphone is slicker, but I prefer the android market to the iphone app store. If you just want a phone, both are overkill, if you want a smartphone, work out what you want and which is the best for you.

RedBlanket · 03/08/2011 18:02

I didn't want one, DH talked me into it, and now It's practically welded into my hand. I lurve it so much. Games, email, FB MN, news, it's ace

Downsides - the phone bit isnt that great and the battery life is a joke.

hayleysd · 04/08/2011 07:22

Greenlegs you could video call through skype or FaceTime but you both need to have wifi

Sirzy · 04/08/2011 07:26

Get what you want! But I love my iPhone, best phone ever!

EndInTearrs · 04/08/2011 07:29

I have an Orange SanFransisco and I was in the Orange shop looking at HTC's as I wanted to upgrade it to something better and the bloke in there said HTC's and Iphones do nothing more than what a cheaper android can do. I can think of better things to spend £400 on :)

Why would your dh be upset if you didn't get one?

If you do decide to get an iphone, remember the iphone 5 is supposed to be out next month, so you might either want to wait for that, or wait until it's out anyway because it might make iphone 4's cheaper.

cantpooinpeace · 04/08/2011 09:01

I have a motorola manhattan - the aerial on it is just so slick and it has snake 2 on it! Don't know how I lived without it :)

Teachermumof3 · 04/08/2011 09:18

Why would your DH be upset if you didn't get one!? Why would Greenleg's husband be pressurising her to get one!?

I have an iphone and love it, but it wouldn't bother me a jot what phone DH had!?

InstantAtom · 04/08/2011 09:38

YANBU. Your phone, your choice.

YouDoTheMath · 04/08/2011 09:49

I'm in the same boat. DP thinks I should get one, but I'm really not sure. I have an iPod and we have an iPad. Basically I think we have enough iStuff and iFancy something different! Maybe a Samsung?

Helenagrace · 04/08/2011 10:11

YANBU.

I have one. I should have stuck with a BlackBerry. My husband's BlackBerry Torch is lovely.

Next time my business contract is up I'm going back to a BlackBerry and buying an iPad for the apps I love.
