I really like MN, it's great. But I think half the reason I come here isn't about the parenting stuff (I'm not a parent but TTC), it's the general chat about books, politics and just daily life. Are there any other forums (fora?) that are good for this kind of stuff, but isn't a parenting website?

fluffygal- I know most of the ex-handbagger fora, I wonder if we know any of the same people?

Although one thing which is annoying is that the archive posts don't come up at the top. So if you wanted for example to read his entire twilight or Harry Potter review from the beginning, it's best to google "Mark Reads Twilight archive" to find the list with links to every chapter in the right order. Which is a bit confusing.

EauRouge- we probably do! From what I gather there was a big falling out on HB then this forum was started and people jumped ship to go there. Lots of pink fluff there though, very unlike MN.

Oh, I know the one you mean. I think I would recognise a few names but most of the people that set up that forum already had DCs and I didn't at the time.

I can also recommend notthetalk. It is where a lot of the Guardian Talk board members ended up after the bastards pulled the plug. Very lightly moderated and you can discuss whatever you want to. Excellent pregnancy thread which has been running for years and a highly entertaining sleb thread.

many of the yahoo groups are very good. I cant actually tell you what ones as having just gone through the 42 I am on only 3 are non NCT laughs.

Digital spy for tv and sleb gossip. There's a lot of obsessives on there who take stuff VERY seriously, I've been banned twice.

MSE forum, especially the Grabbit board
