AIBU to think the Pig Family don't understand naming conventions...

I'm not happy.

ALL the other families in "Oversized Anthropomorphic Animal" land have understood the naming convention.

Your children are called an actual name, that begins with the same letter as your animal type.

They have ALL managed this, except the pig family.

Peppa IS NOT an actual name.

George DOES NOT begin with a P

Neither do their cousins, Chloe and Alexander.

I'm surpriased the registrars let them away with it frankly.

What would have been wrong with Pippa and Peter...EH...???

I know someone who knows the writers. There are lots of Miss Rabbits. I was quite enlightened, and vaguely disappointed, by that news. I preferred it when I thought Miss Rabbit was very prolific in her choice of careers.

hitchedhippo · 30/07/2011 20:46

Grandpa Pig....?

Grockle · 30/07/2011 20:55

I love this thread.

Oink.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/07/2011 20:59

I feel bad now for hating Miss Rabbit.

takethisonehereforastart · 30/07/2011 21:06

I always wonder why Mummy and Daddy Pig call Granny and Grampa Pig Granny and Grampa Pig. Whose parents are they? I think they are Mummy Pigs because of Birdy Birdy Woof Woof so why doesn't she call them Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig?

And I was disappointed when the Miss Rabbits and Mrs Rabbit turned out to be sisters and not the same rabbit who was a single mum to Rebecca and Richard.

EightiesChick · 30/07/2011 21:13

I'm personally quite heartened by the mutual support of the collective of Miss Rabbits for their community and for the kids in the family. It's surely what Dave intended the Big Society to be like Smile

KoolAidKid · 30/07/2011 21:29

We play a Peppa Pig drinking game:

Peppa is an annoying know-it-all - 1 finger of beer

George has a tantrum - 2 fingers of beer

Daddy Pig says "I'm in expert at...." - 3 fingers of beer

Miss Rabbit turns up in yet another job - one shot of vodka

Daddy Pig pontificates like a luvvie - a gulp of wine

Mummy Pig 'works' at the computer - a swig of cider

Daddy Pig gets stuck in an unfortunate situation because of his weight - a Baileys

fluffywhitekittens · 30/07/2011 21:35

Must be a pig phenomenon or Olivia hasn't got the message either.
I have also met one Peppa in real life and found it a bit strange to be named after an animated pig ...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 31/07/2011 07:15

KoolAidKid Everyone would be absolutely mortal after Nick Jr bedtime!

Blatherskite · 31/07/2011 07:36

I hate Peppa Pig because of Peppa's voice. Someone get that child a steam inhalation and a tissue!

Mrs Pig had obviously been having an affair with a Giraffe/Gerbil/Goat/Gnu before she had George

IvyAndGold · 31/07/2011 07:47

I always assumed Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig were born with those names, and it was just an incredibly lucky coincidence that they fell for each other. I mean, in the episode where Peppa rings him at work, he answers "Hello, Daddy Pig speaking!" before he knew it was one of his offspring.

trixie123 · 31/07/2011 07:57

koolaid thats brilliant - will insist on playing that sometime - DS won't mind if it means he can watch wall to wall peppa! Zorgmoid - thats been bugging me too, how come some animals are "human' and some are pets? Also, where is freddy Fox most of the time? He is only ever in it occasionally.

TattyDevine · 31/07/2011 08:33

Um. Its not "Mrs Rabbit", its "Mummy Rabbit". And Miss Rabbit.

Though those Rabbit sisters sure have their fingers in a lot of pies, even if there are two of them.

The best thing is Daddy Pig's job. "I take big numbers, transmute them, and calculate their load bearing tangents".

You could speculate that he is an architect as he had an overdue library book about concrete, and there is an episode where he uses a blueprint as a paper plane which looks suspiciously like a plan for domestic housing. But he made a right hash of putting that picture up that time so one wonders really...

zelda1982 · 31/07/2011 08:42

I assumed there was only 1 Miss Rabbit as the one where we find out who she really is (where she hurts her ankle) Mummy Rabbit and daddy pig etc all have to do her Jobs (supermarket, ice cream van)

gemma4d · 31/07/2011 08:42

IvyAndGold: caller display?

IvyAndGold · 31/07/2011 10:57

Well if he had caller ID, he sounded a little surprised to find it was Peppa at the end of the line!

gemma4d · 31/07/2011 19:02

oh well, I tried to rationalise it!

Sunflowergirl2011 · 01/08/2011 20:15

LOVE this thread! Has made me laugh out loud many times. And learn so much :)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/08/2011 20:23

Miss Rabbit also works at the ice rink.

BertieBasset · 01/08/2011 20:31

So Mrs Rabbit is Miss Rabbit's sister? At least she kept her maiden name when married. Show's a progressive attitude.

AliGrylls · 02/08/2011 11:50

Oh I get it now about the Rabbits.

Re. Daddy Pig - I am not sure he is an architect given that when he tried to put a picture up in the house he knocked a hole through the wall.

I think I need to watch more Peppa.

AliGrylls · 02/08/2011 11:52

I hate Peppa too actually. She thinks she knows it all.

5inthebed · 02/08/2011 11:57

Well there you go, did not realise there was a Miss and a Mrs Rabbit!

Mrs Rbbit had twins recently as well. Wiki page is fantastic! Names all the Rabbits and tells you about them:

Rebecca Rabbit
Richard Rabbit (Rebecca's young brother)
Rosie Rabbit
Robbie Rabbit
Mrs Rabbit (Mummy Rabbit)
Mr Rabbit
Miss Rabbit
Grampy Rabbit

Grampy Rabbit is very old and sails a submarine. Miss Rabbit is Mrs Rabbit's sister, and inexplicably has a large number of jobs, from head of the fire service, through seller of ice creams and supermarket worker, through christmas tree seller, to driver of the school bus, as humorously depicted in Series 3 Episode 37, "Miss Rabbit's Day Off." Robbie and Rosie are twin baby rabbits, and Rebecca and Richard's younger siblings.

5inthebed · 02/08/2011 11:59

Wiki page in case anyone is just as sad interested as me.

Valpollicella · 02/08/2011 12:01

You need to search for the thread on here where Miss Rabbit and Mummy Pig were having a passive aggressive scrap
