My son has told his friends that I am suffering with stress at the moment, bad anxiety and I've now got my back garden with three 14 year old boys in it who are doing my garden and tidying my shed.

I've always tried to be good to them as they were growing up and now they're being so good to me.

Our young people get so much bad press but most are just good kids. Bless 'em.

During the bad snow last year, I got stuck in the snow as car wouldn't turn. 2 teenagers from the local school on their way there, stopped and dug me out. Phoned the school to say how impressed I was with them.

dontaskme they are just regular kids, one has ADHD my son is autistic the other lad doesnt have any problems but the three of them they have huge hearts.

nikosI think we should spread our stories as kids are so demonised by the tabloids these day, it is good to counter it.

Another one I heard on here was a single mum with not much money came home to find her two teenage sons cooking a meal for a friend and his clothes in the washing machine. She took one of them aside and was about to lay into him that they couldn't be affording to do all this for someone else. But the ds told how dreadful the stray teenagers home life was and how they had to help him out. That was a while ago but the story has stayed with me and that's the kind of kids I would like to turn out Smile

Mitmoo I have a child with asd as well and I am absolutely sure they have empathy. Have seen my ds display it so many times.

My 15 year old spent today at his nan's chopping up and old sofa ready for me to take to the dump. Everyone loves to moan about teens but with hand on heart i can say i dont know one teenager who fits the daily mail sterotype. They are all lovely.

As a secondary school teacher I'd like to add my support to this thread. The vast majority of teens are wonderful, good natured and kind.

Can I bring your attention to this young man? He's in my local area and he's doing a huge amount to raise funds for cancer research despite fighting cancer himself. He's 11.

Mitmoo · 29/07/2011 20:41

nikos I just wished we heard more about the majority of kids who are wonderful. One of his friends keeps rubbing my had and asking me if I am ok.

*cant_ your nan and your son are so lucky to have each other because they'll both gain so much, your mum for the help and your son from his pride. Fabulous stuff

amibeingdaft no you're not Wink

Nice to hear good stories Smile

There's 300 or so here at the youth club having a bbq and karaoke and they're all behaving impeccably

i could bore you about mine,
ds is a normal teen, you know all moody and gobby, but he is brilliant with his sister(sn) she adores him as he treats her so normal, he is so good with her and so helpful, all his friends are good with her too and don't mind if she lol at them.
oh and his GF gave blood yesterday

QueenOfAllBiscuitsandMuffins · 30/07/2011 08:01

I don't mind teenagers but I am curious to know why the older ones think it looks good to dye their skin a curious shade of oompa loompa orange. When I was a teenager a tide make was a BAD thing.

Mitmoo · 30/07/2011 08:37

That's lovely 2shoes

Queen I haven't noticed any orange children? Is it a local thing I wonder.
