To nap whilst looking after my 3 y/o

After my last night shift I do not have child care, I have been putting the baby down in her cot for a sleep and then me and my 3 y/o play in the lounge once she is into the game/puzzle/film etc I lay on the couch and doze I wouldn't say I'm asleep fully but I'm not fully awake either, I haven't told anyone about this because I guess I think I'm being irresponsible but it's only for 1 hour 2 max whilst the baby sleeps it just takes the edge off my tiredness. My 3y/o is sensible and our home is secure and baby proofed for the 9 month old,

Opinons please...please don't flame me

I do this too. It's lovely when DS snuggles down with me but if he wants to carry on watching Scooby Doo or whatever, that's fine too.

I would say yanbu. Just a word of warning though, I did this once, thinking my house was totally safe, baby gates galore, ds3 (non sleeping asd, 3 at the time) moved a box in front of the baby gate climbed over it and was out the front door, very quietly. Only knew what had happened when my next door neighbour brought him back Shock. ds2 10 was in his room, with the door open at the top of the stairs and didn't hear him either. horrified wasn't the word. If I feel that way now I make sure I lock the doors and hide the keys ( we have a key safe in case of emergencies).
