i had a scan on monday, a couple came from the scan room and sat in the waiting room then the scanner came out with a brown envelope and told them to give that to 'them' and that since there was a sac but no baby it didnt look good :(

aibu to think this should have been said where other people could hear it?

I agree that your comments may be welcomed.

I think that everyone should complain about any aspect of unsatisfactory care they receive anywhere, not just in a hospital, but it is even more important when it is something like this! I hate the way some HCP carry on - total lack of empathy - and they need to be told about the effect they have on others.

As someone who's been on the "them" end of that situation... please, please DO. It's only when horrid insensitivity like that gets challenged that it gets improved upon.

berylmuspratt · 26/07/2011 20:43

You are definitely not being unreasonable.

I had a miscarriage last Summer. I had to sit with all the pregnant Mums, go in alone as DH had to take care of DS and be told, sorry no heartbeat.

I do wish hospitals would have a seperate area for Mums to be and women who have suffered a loss :(

Thankfully the staff on the early pregnancy unit were lovely and made what was a horrible situation a tiny bit better by being so kind and sensitive.

Thats really not on, i hope that they complain!

I went for what i thought was a 12 week scan and the guy said to me - your baby is dead - heres a scan picture.. i was Shock

Fecklessdizzy · 26/07/2011 21:02

Complain.

The same thing happened to me ... No heartbeat. Next!

I was too messed up to drive home and had to sit in the carpark for hours until I could see again. I really wish I'd had the balls to complain but I just couldn't think straight.
