on thursday there was a card through my door from social services saying "please make contact asap with i called as soon as i got in, social worker named had gone home and was off on friday, left details for her to call me

spent all weekend worrying, ive nothing to be worried about, i do extended breastfeeding hich some people dont like but nothing for ss to get involved in...

she rang me today, asked for my name, dcs names, no idea who i am until she asks for my address and she says "oh, did i put it in yours? it was for next door, could you put the card through there for me?"

aibu to be annoyed that i'd worried all weekend, you hear stories about ss getting involved for no reason and that she couldnt even read door numbers?

Human error was putting the note through the wrong door.

Unacceptable was telling the OP who the note was for Shock She should definitely not be telling neighbours who she is involved with!

so what should she have done, once she had realised her mistake

slartybartfast · 25/07/2011 22:49

whats with all the secrecy?

RitaMorgan · 25/07/2011 22:50

She should have said "sorry, I made a mistake the note wasn't for you". Telling the OP who the note was for was sloppy and careless.

I don't know the legal position as to the SW telling the OP it was for the family next door, but surely she shouldn't have told her to pop the card through their door? What if they saw her doing it and there were repercussions? I'd ring tomorrow and say I wasn't doing it, in that situation.

it would be nice to report her for disciplinary but has anyone though of the poor neighbour? she probably doesnt want the whole street knowing her business! there are two types of social workers ones for disabled children and the other for when the family has been negligent or whatever but its not good to judge although you have every right to be upset!

slartybartfast · 25/07/2011 22:57

well if op and others have reported her to police on more than one occasion, for leaving her children home alone, why should you be surprised she has a social worker??
