He's the only person ever to win back-to-back finishes to the Tour de France on the Champs Elysees. And he's done it three times in a row.

He's won 20 races stages of the Tour de France, the 6th most in history, 2 behind Lance Armstrong and only 14 more needed to take the top place (he's only 26).

He's generous in his praise for his team of lead out men. And there's every hope that he's riding clean.

And he's also very nice to look at in cycling shorts....

YABU
Chrissie Wellington should win it! Then Cav as a noble second. Three times world champion, another new world record, and a fab person.

Not current world champion as she had to pull out due to illness, however she'll get that back in October. She regularly trounces the male competition, and I mean trounces them, she runs with a smile permanently on her face, and stays back to congratulate every other finisher indivdually over the line.

YANBU - my vote is for Cav.

My DH did the 2009 Challenge Roth triathlon which is an Iron distance race. Chrissie won that day in a world record time then stayed on for hours to hand out medals to the non-pros taking part. She hopped the fence and gave my DH his medal so we have a soft spot for her in this house but I still think Cav this year Smile

I used to think Cav was a tosser but he has definitely matured. I'm reading his book at the moment and would recommend it as a real insight into not only the 2008 tour but also his personality...very interesting and entertaining read.

OilPocket - Roth is just amazing! Did it in the rain in 2008.

Cav-YES! what a blooming fantastic athlete-we are bereft at the end of the Tour this year.

Deffo Team Cav

(and Wiggo when he isn't broken, but also when he is broken ;) )

Step - I'm in awe of you as well then! My DH was buggered by the end but very proud of himself. It was a very emotional day for a lot of reasons...I'll never forget the bit of the bike leg where the spectators make it single file and cheer every rider through Smile
