To eat bits of my child?

Name changed here as what I'm going to admit sounds rather appaling. I have a lovely new baby, and her skin is flaking off now thanks to her being a tad overdue. The skin underneath is perfect and peachy soft. The bits that are coming off are causing her no discomfort. Anyway, when she's feeding I find myself plucking at her skin and teasing away bits that are ready to come off. And eating them. Is this cannabalism?? She doesn't appear to notice, and I only caught myself doing it once, and thought WTF??? For what it's worth i used to bite my older dd's nails when she was a baby, and nibble them up. It just seemed an automatic reaction to pop the bits of skin in my mouth, who knows how many bits i'd scoffed before I realised what I was doing. So, erm, aibu?

mrszimmerman · 25/07/2011 12:56

MinnieBar · 25/07/2011 12:58

I believe it was considered acceptable to masturbate infants in Victorian times too. Y'know, to calm them down Hmm

mrszimmerman · 25/07/2011 13:01

Oh lordy! The stuff we don't even know!
(goes and puts on kettle for comforting cup of tea)

AgainWhen · 25/07/2011 13:09

YANBU. Some people are VERY easily disgusted.

Bloodymary · 25/07/2011 13:34

Boak, I had only read a couple of posts on this thread and I had to stop.
It is gross, and it has put me right off my lunch.

(and I am on a diet so I am starving)!!!

Please do not do it OP.

Morloth · 25/07/2011 13:52

Why BloodyMary?

As I said, I think it is a bit weird, but there is no harm, so why should the OP not do it?

Some of you have very wussy stomachs.

biddysmama · 25/07/2011 14:00

i feel a bit sick now

qwertymcwerty · 25/07/2011 14:52

Given some of your responses, I am a bit worried by how completely normal this seems to me.

droves · 25/07/2011 15:08

FFS ! I know your supposed to get extra hungry when breastfeeding a newborn , but could you not instead just get a sandwich, Tastymorsels ?

i keep thinking about Goldmember from austin powers film ... he peeled skin , kept it in a box , and licked it !

Thanks , have to make kids tea in an hour ...what to make ? potato skins have suddenly lost their appeal !.

I know ....skinless sausages ! Grin .

droves · 25/07/2011 15:13

.... and can i just ask ...

.....If gregs and fruit shoots are judged not sutible for human consumption , they why is babyskin ok ?

its bogging !

honestly trying to help you here TM ...

...have looked on ww pro points ...and they dont have babyskin listed , so im assuming its a dont eat !!!!

HeadfirstForHalos · 25/07/2011 16:20

Babyskin has to be healthier than fruit shoots and Gregs Grin

OP yanbu, a little odd perhaps :)

StoopidBint · 25/07/2011 16:37

I don't think it's that odd really OP. I'm certainly not shocked by it.

I find eating your Dad's ashes a little harder to comprehend I must admit.

RalphGnu · 25/07/2011 17:27

I don't find the OP's post particularly shocking, I'd rather eat baby skin than let's say black pudding, but the thing about baby willies is hard for my conventional western mind to get around!

mistressploppy · 25/07/2011 18:38

Me too, Qwerty Blush

hairfullofsnakes · 25/07/2011 19:21

OMG Minniebar that is a disgusting and gross bit of history - I feel quite sick

SnarkHunt · 25/07/2011 19:26

Haha! I nibble and eat my own nails etc and true LO kind of feels like an extension of me. But I wouldn't pick her nose and eat it. If you would, then whatever floats your boat, but do try not to do it in front of anyone else cos they might think you're just very slightly odd...

sixkids · 25/07/2011 20:43

well at least your not munching on a whole thigh bone, but cheaper than a leg of lamb! enjoy! :)

Dorje · 26/07/2011 02:23

Well children are delicious... but I couldn't eat a whole one. boom tish

Seriously OP, you sound mineral and vitamin deficient to me.. and possibly quite low in iron.

Look after that aspect of your health and you'll all be fine!! Smile
