To try to take on Kleeneze and Avon

Mitmoo · 24/07/2011 15:29

I've just started doing Avon and have got £50 commission in a week of selling but that has exhausted my area, so I'm going to have to look around to increase it.

I was thinking of doing Kleeneze but haven't tried it before and they want a lot for the catalogues £156 up front, which will be worth it if it works but it's a risk.

Has anyone tried it?

I haven't tried it but all I can tell you is, over the last 6 or 7yrs we must have had over 20 different Kleeneze people putting the catalogues through our door.

They can't seem to keep the same agent for more than a month or so Sad

charleneanne · 24/07/2011 15:35

KLEENEZE nooooooooooooo steer well clear i tried it and ended up paying for nothing and the company are not at all helpful dont risk it

SummerRain · 24/07/2011 15:37

don't do it. I tried it when dd was small and it was a waste.... there must have been 20 agents in my area of the city and I rarely got catalogues back as people were so sick of getting them. I did it for 2 months and spent more than I made in that time.

Jojo1983 · 24/07/2011 15:51

Maybe try betterware? I done this for a few months and didnt have to pay anything upfront earned quite a bit in commission and only stopped as moved back to london

Mitmoo · 24/07/2011 16:08

Thanks for the heads up on Kleeneze, I had read some bad reviews but people who aren't happy generally blog if they're happy they are too busy earning money.

I think I'll concentrate on the Avon and maybe back it up doing a bit of home cleaning. That might be less risky, has anyone ever tried that?

Kleeneze is awful...crappy products and I HATE the way they call back for the catalogue THEY dumped on my Step! All of this "Please replace on doorstep on Wednesday if you do no require any products"

No.

You put it in MY door it goes in the bin.

I have enough junk mail wihout saving it up for a week.

MumblingRagDoll · 24/07/2011 17:37

my Aunt cleans for 3 houses and she loves it. They are lovely to her and she's her own boss.

You coud also do ironing?

Lorelai · 24/07/2011 20:07

What about something like Pampered Chef? I've just started doing that and have made about £750 in commission plus got about £300 worth of free products, in about 2 months.

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 07:09

The cleaning sounds good I've heard 10-12 a hour is about the going rate.

I haven't heard of Pampered Chef but I'll go off for a google now.

Any more ideas gratefully received.

OP posts:
Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 07:17

I've just looked at the Pampered Chef and it's rubbish. The first three bonuses are just in goods like cake tins and trifle bowls and it costs £110 to join.

Thanks for the tip but you must have had a team of people doing cooking shows to earn all that commission and I don't know where they get the value of the goods from I could buy them in the town for a quarter or less of the price they claim they are worth.

The cynic in me thinks you might just be trying to promote them.

You can make really good money doing party plan.
You're in peoples homes, they are there to socialise so it's a nice friendly environment.
I know people on here like to say they hate them but those sort of people don't go.

Jamie Oliver, Temple Spa and Vie at Home are all good ones.
You can make between £30 and £100 per night but you have to put the work in to get the bookings .
I've listed 3 so you don't think I'm trying to promote one Grin

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 07:42

Thanks Lou, no you don't have my cynic sniffer going, when I looked at the other site though and there were the first three targets rewarded just with goods like cake trays, and you need three campaigns until you are made a consultants and earn actual money, it just looks like a total rip off to me.

Evening work is difficult because of my son, Im not sure I know enough people to make a party a regular income though. Im looking for something with regular income and something I can build as a business..

The regular one to pay the bills while I'm working on a business to build, even if that is only Avon.

I've found 8 representatives in my first week cold calling but I do have one seriously amazing team leader. :-)

Mitmoo- Def. try cleaning - we pay £30 for two people to come for an hour :( a week- through a company..so that's £15 ph for one person of course. I would massively prefer someone local but haven't come across anyone. Do the leg work putting flyers through and I bet you'll get quite a few.

joric · 26/07/2011 08:25

Ps - sorry but kleeneze and overpriced Avon tat both go in bin here :(

Signet2012 · 26/07/2011 08:40

My dad did betterware and kleeneze years ago when i was small. He did really well at it round our way and was quite far up, but then poundlands arrived as did poundstretcher and JML and tbf both catalogues are over priced plastic shite so business went down, he was also an Avon man up until recently and made a lot with that Blush

He packed it in as he had customers wide over the town and was sick of the "ive got the money on so and so for you" but tbf that was his own fault for starting giving people stuff on "trust" LOL

A few of my friends have done the makeup parties I think its Vie and have made a canny amount.

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 08:46

Avon is selling really well Joric I haven't tried Kleeneze but I do buy one of their stain removers and though it is expensive at £6 it has saved me a fortune in rescuing clothes, sheets and stuff that otherwise have to be binned.

Signet I'd love to get an Avon man on board, that would be brilliant.

I would never give on trust, stuff that, pay up or they go back. I am not a nice Avon Lady.

mum0ftw0 · 26/07/2011 08:57

I gave Kleeneze a good shot, spent about 250 pounds to 'set up my bussiness' with them.

I remember doing a total of 10 hours work and getting a sore back bending down putting out catalogs, and earning absolutely nothing, minus the book I lost.
I got about 5 orders in my area and made a total of about 15 pounds, for about 7 hours work it took getting those catalogues out. Then they charge you monthly to have a website you don't even want or use.

Biggest waste of time of my life.

Plus to bruised ego from peole being not so nice about you being an annoyance, chucking the catalogues across the street as you leave, and writing notes saying to the effect of 'leave me the alone'.

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 08:59

I'm definately getting the idea shelling out £156 to Kleeneze is not going to be good ideas to start up a business. Thanks Mum of Two

OP posts:
mum0ftw0 · 26/07/2011 09:01

Mitmoo, come back and tell us how you do.
You'll be effing and blinding about the amount of work you did for nothing.

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 09:03

Mum of two I am glad that I asked I dont think I will be going with Kleeneze after researching on here and other sites. There are not many success stories and those who love it are trying to sign me up and pay up.

OP posts:
mum0ftw0 · 26/07/2011 09:07

sorry, I just read a part of the thread where someone said maybe people who did well are toobusy earning money to complain, and got defensive :-p

It's really difficult trying to come up with a way to make money isn't it....

I would do something similar now if it worked...

Mitmoo · 26/07/2011 09:20

No problem MumofTwo I was glad to hear it as I haven't shelled out any money yet.

I am wondering if there would be a market for shoppers too. There must be a lot of old people who can't drive, can't use the internet but would love a trip up to Morrisons or Sainsbury's or have someone do it for them.

I wonder if there might be a market there?

OP posts:
mum0ftw0 · 26/07/2011 09:44

I'mabsolutely sure there would be.

Could take MIL off our hands

NoMoreWasabi · 26/07/2011 09:52

Mitmoo - if you want to go down the shopping line at a minimum you'd need to make sure you have the right (read more expensive) car insurance for business use.

Lorelai · 26/07/2011 09:54

Sorry I haven't been back, haven't been around for a couple of days - just wanted to say that no, I am not trying to promote PC in the way you think, just thought it might be something worth looking at, fair enough you don't think it is for you, we are all looking for different things. And no, I don't have a team; that is all from me. 9 shows at just over £400 average per show, 20% commission.

Anyway, not looking to get into a debate, just wanted to 'defend' myself :)

I like your idea of driving people to the shops though, just check there isn't a free service in your area that they use - there is one here so might not be much of a market for a paid service.

Another option might be dog walking? There are a couple of people advertising that round here, not sure how much they charge. Or ironing maybe?
