I have just dyed my hair. I haven't done it for months and it got to the point that half my hair was mousey brown the other half black.

Now I usually use 2 packs of hair dye. I only had one so only did my roots thinking that it would al least make my roots match my tips.

BOY WAS I WRONG Blush

I look like brown and black stripy jumper

I am going out to buy more dye this-afternoon.

Anyone want to share their hair dye disasters before I face the hordes of Saturday shoppers?

Me: Tried to go red, ended up looking like Ronald Macdonald!
Gran: Tried to wash henna off in the shower> It takes weeks to wear off of your skin!
Sis: Had an allergic reaction to the beeswax in a salon dye, (salon didnt skin test) Head swelled up to 'Hey Arnold' proportions, (Think that wierd head thingy in 'Total Recall', ended up in hospital on oxygen minus a fair bit of hair!

Hint: If you get dyed skin, use a little left over dye and rub into the stain. It will lift the dye and it should wash off.

oooh...yellow Sun-In aged 16 (remember that??) on my dark blonde hair, then white bleach-bonde salon highlights at 17 which made me look like a ghost. Worst of all was a home highlights kit age 24. It was to save money. But my hair went bright orange - ended up spending £70 on a colour correction in Toni & Guy & had to start a new job with dark brown hair. Now haven't had it coloured for a few months due to illness & hair loss...and most of my new hair is grey! So I've bought a 'very light brown' home hair colour - please wish me luck!

Many years ago (20+) decided to dye my dk brown hair black. Then decided it was too dark and used a blond dye (idiot).Of course the black dye didn't budge but my roots turned out ginger/blond.
Had to over-dye with dark brown to cover roots then have hair cut shorter and try a dye remover.

Over a period of time I used henna which was gorgeous but messy.
Let that grow/cut to get rid of it.

Then 6 years ago, having not learned my lesson, I bought a very dark brown dye instead of mid brown.
End result was I looked like Shakin Stevens, not a flattering look
Didn't waste time dyeing hair again, went straight for drastic measures (short) and kept having it cut until colour had gone.

They are really funny aren't they, Kallista?! I've done some of them myself - auburn Harmony on blonde hair, ended up with terracotta streaks. Tried to bleach that out, had to go around with strangely peach-coloured hair for weeks ...

I did the non-colourfast blue thing too! My seventeenth birthday. I was going through a blue phase. I went out in new jeans, a new dip-dyed blue top, new blue suede shoes and gorgeous (so I thought) royal blue streaks in my hair. On the way out, I got caught in a rainstorm. I arrived dripping wet - and dripping blue! I had dark blue runnels all down my face, and the textiles had run so badly I was leaving blue footprints.

Hi, I'm new on here but some advice if you dye your hair and it goes too dark..simply wash it in soap powder I've had to this week off advice from my salon and it works and lifts the colour out !my hair was dark brown but black on the ends but it's like magic so I hope it helps anyone with same problem :)
