AIBU to expect nursery staff not to look bored witless?

not a job i would ever choose to do and i know they are on peanuts but i am paying good money for a service, shouldnt they at least pretend to be enjoying it as their chosen career? no enthusiasm recently from any staff i have seen thinking about moving 2yo ds somewhere they might commuticate by speech rather than just the basics written down. also they have moved ds into room for bigger kids(much less cosy) without any reason or explanation being communicated to me. ds seems happy and talks about other kids there so in 2 minds about disrupting him, been thre since 9months.

YANBU. Get your children to a new nursery. Talk to the nursery manager and discuss your concerns. File a complaint with OFSTED if that's not handled well. My dd's nursery was full of people like that, my dh told me I was being too picky but I regret not saying anything.

YANBU - not all nurseries are like that, find one that isn't.

Not all nurseries are like that, and not all nursery workers are paid peanuts. My ds's keyworker is very well paid and obviously loves her job, always has time to chat with me and does loads of great activities with ds.

thank you, i,ve heard alot of horror stories about other places suppose was just thinking it could be worse rather than finding somewhere better. dont feel comfortable discussing with them incase it impacts on the care ds recieves. thinking about it that isnt a good sign in itself

I would say that's a huge sign. You need to leave your son with someone you trust and who looks after him well.

Either talk to this nursery or find him another one.

Yanbu fwiw my dd's nursery is fantastic and the staff are great. The emphusiasm shines from them, every time I pick her up they tell me little stories about what she's been doing.

I usually find it's the younger staff that look bored. I would rather go to a nursery with older staff tbh.

Are there any children centre nurseries near you? IME they have much higher standards and much better qualified and better paid staff than private nurseries.

When staff look like that I would say they're unhappy and it's usually coming from management. When I popped in while on Mat Leave to my baby room, one mum told me she missed my smiley face!
