It's Ds last day at his lovely lovely primary. Last night the year 6's did a fantastic performance - a play/musical they wrote themselves and he, unusually, as is a very shy boy generally, had a major role. Not only did I snivel all the way through it, but this morning when I dropped him off, and then took dd to her last day in the early years building which is a beautiful little house opposite the main school, I wept copiously for both of them! Am I mad?

Well, that's it then. I picked them up and he refused to walk with me to the car in case I cried!! Luckily I was ok but he was disgusted at how all the 'girls cried and hugged everyone - yeuch!' - the best bit was collecting dd from early years. The sun came out and they all played in the lovely garden for about 10 minutes whilst us mummies talked and watched them fondly..Not sure 'fondly' is an emotion I will be feeling by the middle of August Grin

Bwah...

I don't have kids, but have been helping out at Brownies. When 3 of the girls left to go to guides they sang us a song and... I mysteriously got something in my eye that made my eyes water.

YANBU. My DD came home with her shirt covered in good luck messages scrawled in marker pen.

Her HT was retiring this year and gave all the leavers autograph books. The messages from friends and teachers have made me teary.

And they had an assembly / play all about memories of primary school. I was holding it together really well until lyrics such as, "goodbye my friends, it isn't the end" appeared and the children themselves started crying and laghing at the same time. I wanted to howl!
