... and I know that repgnancy and birth is not some sort of great achievement given that billions of women on the planet do it all the time... They're teenagers now (and we miracolously get along great -which I probably just jinxed), but I still look at them some times and despite all logic I think "wow, I MADE life, twice, and they're now going out in the owrld doing their own little thing".
I probably ABU. Maybe should start drinkn so early on a thursday ;-)

Awww YANBU Smile

dexter73 · 21/07/2011 17:16

I thought the same thing about my macaroni cheese last night!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 21/07/2011 17:16

YANBU. I do this, but mine is only 17mo. It's lovely to think I might still feel that way when she is a teenager.

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 17:16

YANBU - it's amazing isn't it!
that we're capable of doing that.
Grin

twilight3 · 21/07/2011 17:17

did your macaroni cheese "go out in the world doing its own little thing"? That was a hell of a recipe dexter, lol

Yanbu

It's one of the few things I've done really right, my dcs are bloody gorgeous.

:)

pjmama · 21/07/2011 17:18

I sometimes look at mine and think "wow, what have I done?!" ha ha! Only on the more challenging days!

Seriously tho they amaze me every day, I can't believe they're mine and I got so lucky!

twilight3 · 21/07/2011 17:19

awww, thanks girls, I feel a bit less like a weirdo now :-)

MissPenteuth · 21/07/2011 17:19

YANBU, I do the same with my 16mo. It's funny how pregnancy/childbirth can be both the most mundane and natural thing, and yet also the most amazing.

dexter73 · 21/07/2011 17:19

No because my dd came back from her DofE expedition and demolished it as she had eaten all her food the day before! I totally agree with you btw. Teenagers are fab!

Cocoflower · 21/07/2011 17:21

And where were they before they got made?

Its weird to think of all this life we had before they were born and they weren't there. They were just nothing. Nothing at all... its too weird!

AgentZigzag · 21/07/2011 17:24

I'm now wondering how someone will be outraged and manage to twist it into you being unreasonable Grin

twilight3 · 21/07/2011 17:26

I know Coco, you live 20/30/40 years without them and it's fine, it's normal, and as soon as you spend a second with them can't imagine (or remember) life before they arrived!
I also get weirded out by the thought that if I had had sex a day earlier or later than I did I would have completely different children and the ones I have would have never existed!

I think I have existential issues and need therapy...

bruffin · 21/07/2011 17:28

twilight - I feel the same and mine are teenagers as well!

JamieAgain · 21/07/2011 17:31

I think this most days (when I'm not thinking "My God What Have We done?")

DH and I give each other a soppy look over the breakfast table. We really think they are beautiful boys. And so clever!

HomemadeCommunistRussia · 21/07/2011 17:31

twillight3 I loving your online slurring Grin

I too often wonder at what I have created Hmm

Cocoflower · 21/07/2011 17:32

And if our parents had done the deed at a different time we wouldnt be here... or would we but maybe in a different body?

I guess it depends if you believe in souls...

SpecialFriedRice · 21/07/2011 17:32

YANBU

I often think that about my DD (3)... I just look at her and think I made her, from almost nothing! I sometimes think how easily she could have not existed. She was a happy accident so not like I was trying. So one crazy night has changed my life forever.

HomemadeCommunistRussia · 21/07/2011 17:32

I'm ffs and I haven't been drinking Smile

Cocoflower · 21/07/2011 17:34

Oh and twilight here is head spinner for you

You are as old as your grandmother and were inside her body at one point

JamieAgain · 21/07/2011 17:34

I like it when they say something to disagree with me that shows they have a grasp of logic and their own views.

Not all the time mind you

slightlymad72 · 21/07/2011 17:34

I am looking at my 19 year old thinking 'at last I have found a use for her', she is cooking tea for the family.
I am looking at my 10 year old, thinking 'they're not my genes', he is wrapping himself in cardboard and sellotape, pretending to be a ninja Robot.
I am looking at my 12 year old, thinking 'where did I go wrong?' he wants to keep hold of every broken item, so when he opens his restaurant (he is only just learning to cook) he can have 'conversation' pieces dotted around the place.
Only 3 hours before I can start sending them to bed Grin and indulge in a Wine

Toobluntforboss · 21/07/2011 17:35

I can't believe it either and am grateful every day for how lucky I am! I find each age/stage even more amazing and expected that to end, so great to hear that it continues through the teenage years (and hopefully beyond!)!
