bills have been a tricky one this month, will just scrape by but food might been an issue. Have been eating rice for the last few days. (should mention that no DCs in the picture, just me and OH)

at the weekend i got a £10 in tips from bar work, and I want to spend it on drink, even though I should get food. but the thought of treating myself to a bottle of rose to make me feel better even for a little while is so tempting...

superjobee · 19/07/2011 22:50

i was away to moan at you all saying its after 10 how can it matter whether the shop is open or not you cant buy it.. then remembered that when i lived in lancs we could buy alcohol at any time, day or night... there are some things about england i miss!!

NickRobinsonsloveslave · 19/07/2011 22:51

Go for the wine OP. You need treats now and again to keep you going through life. Otherwise what's the point?

honeyandsalt · 19/07/2011 22:57

Personally I'd spend it all on tea and cake like (omg such a loser).

Honestly, I'd split it. Some cheap frozen veg, dried mixed beans, a carb (cous cous, pasta, rice, spud or bread), cheap muesli, probably a bit of chocolate, and some booze if you want. Custard creams are about 30p a pack at Lidl and noodles are about 10p I believe...

I want to live in your council area Mucky, our council is currently over two months behind in processing housing benefit claims!

sunshinelifeisgood · 20/07/2011 00:13

get yourself a really nice bottle of wine and enjoy it you deserve it :)

danniclare · 20/07/2011 00:16

Guiness if you can stand it. Food and booze combined.

pinkyp · 20/07/2011 00:21

Yanbu it's daft but you need to buy yourself something otherwise you'll feel sad/ depressed, perhaps look for a cheaper alternative? I agree it's 'extra' money u didn't expect to have so doesn't sound bad that way Grin

Salmotrutta · 20/07/2011 00:22

I agree - a treat does you the world of good! And I've now learned of a new wine that I might like to try Wink

When DH and I were first married and on a really tight budget it was nice to have a little treat every so often. Keeps you sane and gives you something to look forward to. Enjoy Smile

I opened this thread hoping against hope that Fabby would be on here & sh didn't let me down! Thank Fabby!

FWIW, I reckon Fabby's an ardent whiskey drinker and spouting typing her anti-booze crap wisdom is her way of getting her kicks!

Have a mental image of her being a prettier version of Father Jack, cackling away to herself, whilst necking Jamesons from a chipped mug!

Tell me I'm right Fabby Grin Grin! Go on, go on, go ON!

SchrodingersMew · 20/07/2011 00:30

Lidl's sell lovely fresh filled pasta for 69p and tomato and herb pasta sauce for 18p, buy that and then get yourself some drink. :o

jadefox · 20/07/2011 11:17

when I seen thought there would be an outcry and was going to leap to your defence crying 'a woman cannot live by food alone' - seems there are plenty others out there in the same boat - and fabby, its not that booze is more important than food, but it really help your goddamn sanity! xxx
