To expect the council.......

AIBU to expect the council to help us with a problem that we have with one of their registered taxi drivers parking his taxi on our private driveway sometimes even blocking my exit from my own house?

Neighbour seems to think he can park on the end of our driveway even though we have shown him the deeds proving that it is our land.

Our solicitor had advised us that although he can send him a letter it is not recommended as we are trying to sell our house and it will show as a 'conflict with neighbours'.

DH called council today as they are the ones that license this ignorant twot and they said they can't do anything but mention it to him.

WWYD?

Yes, viva, he wants a letter from solicitor (pretends cannot understand deeds plan?) Plain English and drawings are too complicated apparently.

Letter from Solicitor means trouble for us selling house.IYSWIM?

Are you sure that a letter from your solicitor would mean problems selling your house? You wouldn't be asking them to do anything more than clarify ownership of a particular bit of land. (I have no idea).

As well as speaking to the police, I'd make representations to the Council (in writing) that he is not a fit and proper person to hold a taxi licence.

Could also try the local paper name and shame the firm of taxis he works for angle?

I agree that a plain letter with an explanation should not in itself constitute a dispute if worded carefully

I'd do the solicitors letter then. I think with a good explanation any potential buyer would be happy that it was just to clarify land ownership.
