To take DD to the Next sale

I know I am, but I'm thinking about taking DD to the next sale at 5am. DD is 6 and would cope with it. She loves Next clothes even more than I. I went for the first time (5am) on boxing day last year and loved it. the difference is I was at my mums last time so I snuck out and left DD as mum was in the house.

I know I can't do it writing it out like that :(

oh well, will wait for after Xmas one

YABU because it's Next and their clothes and shoes are nasty!

Go to Zara instead!

Great thing about the Next sale is you can buy lots of clothes half price, then take them back the following week and get all your money back. It helps you to cope with the need to go to the sales without the expense.

Can I just say that if you want cheap Next stuff, go to bootfairs! The amount of new or in very good condition 'brand name' clothing that I have picked up (for the record I really don't give a toss what name is on the label) is unreal. I think people are absolute mugs for spending more than a few quid on kids clothes anyway. Even 'sale' prices are extortionate from places like Next.

Bit melodramatic Freudian, op's daughter happens to like some clothes from Next, how does mean she is brand obsessed? They have to wear something you know, unless you want Op to take her to the park naked. How patronising. Hmm it's hardly princess crap, I don't suppose Op is taking her for spray tans and eyelash extensions.Wink

Mine have had an opinion on what they want to wear since they were about two, both hate jeans, one likes pink and flowery and the other likes blue and green. They aren't obsessed with clothes, they care nothing about brands or fashion and of course they go to the park, play like anybody else. Why would having an opinion on what clothes you wear mean you don't do normal things?

I had opinions on my clothes too when I was little, but knew or cared nothing about brands, some of my favourite clothes were from a second hand shop. Once I wanted to go to playgroup wearing the same pair of maroon dungarees every day, I must have been about three.

Some of the smaller branches of Next aren't so busy, but the bigger ones are usually a bit manic. I've gone early in the morning, never at 5, though and been surprised how quiet it's been. Depends how busy the store is, as to whether you'd want to take a child with you.

OP, have you thought about shopping online? Although you do need to agree to take the Next directory, which they charge you for and a lot of stuff will have already gone in the VIP sale. If you sign up to their email you might get a VIP invite for future sales.

Christmas? So your idea of fun on Boxing Day is to spend ages in a queue - for some "bargain" clothes? Thats what I find sad, instead of lounging about all day enjoying time with the DCs at this special time of year.

FuzzpigFourFiveSix · 16/07/2011 11:11

Have to admit I was a bit Shock at a 6yo having a preference for a particular store. I may be naive though. DD is 4 and when shopping I just hold up 2 fuzzpig-approved clothes and say "which one, hurry up" :o

The only stores DD knows are Boots (DH worked there until recently, so we made much use of the staff discount, I love their clothes), various local supermarkets and Primark :o

Oh and "mummy's work" which is the charity shop I work in every other Sunday, we pop in during the week as they get stuff from there now. Although I suspect the children's rails will be useless to me for the next few weeks as I just donated heaps of my DCs' clothes to them!

GreatBallsOfFluff · 16/07/2011 12:21

Just to clarify, DD has clothes from primark, matalan, Tesco, sainsburys and next. All I meant was if we go in any of the above shops, she'll maybe point out 3 or 4 things that she likes (but doesn't get - just if we're there) and yet she'll want half the clothes at next (she'll hate the other half).

duckdodgers I was back by 6.20 and stayed up from there and enjoyed every minute of the day with my whole family

freudian I don't know what next clothes you see but what I get for dd only has 'next' on the label inside like every other item of clothing has the manufacturer on the label. She's definitely not walking round with 'NEXT' written across her back/arse/legs
