Dreadful. I have no idea how much a horse costs to keep, quite a lot I should think. House, food, shoes, vets etc.
Some people are feckless.

Thats terrible. My dp's sister has a few horses and they are permanently skint because of them and they have no children and 2 incomes!

Unless he is keeping his horse at home, or in some other situation where he can look after it "DIY", he will spending £100 per week. YANBU.

Full livery - £100 average, could be a lot more depending on where he is.
Part livery - £60ish.
DIY - could be anything from £25 to £45ish a week.

Full/Part livery he will need to pay for shoeing etc, but not feed or bedding. That will be at least £60 every 4-6 weeks. Plus insurance, vaccinations etc.

DIY he's going to be shelling out for feed and bedding on top of that. Probably another £20-£40 a month.

I was permanently skint when I had BigHorseLittleHorse. I didn't realise how much I spent until this month and no bills.

I think you could keep 2 nine year olds for the cost of a horse.
