to ask you lot to choose my curtains (from my shortlist)...because it's doing my head in

I've got curtain blindness. I have gone from being wildly excited at, for the first time in my adult life, choosing curtains to being sick of it. I no longer "see" them. here is the (current) short list. Now I know internet pics are near useless and that you can't see my sitting room, but they are, at least, equally useless - and i think some gut reactions from you lo will help. I thank you.

akemi in the beige with bits of brown and red

romo cio cio again it's the beige with bits of red

romo seraphine guess which one?

romo mikado

rihana in nut

greta in ruby

lysander in brick

in the main these links are to google-image search results - because quite often you get pictures of the actual curtains, as well as a snip of fabric which gives you a better idea

I like Greta and Rihana. I think Rihana is the most versatile, if you change your colour scheme later on. The only one I really don't like is Cio Cio.

janajos · 14/07/2011 09:45

I agree with those who like Lysander - modern, but think it has a very classic look. Will be lovely with leather and exposed brick.

hatwoman · 14/07/2011 10:28

the last few votes are roughly in line with my own thinking. lysander and akemi are my current favourites, with rihana as the safe one. though a friend who saw rihana thought it was old fashioned.

as for getting samples - the house is full of them. before long I'll be able to make some curtains. albeit patchwork ones.

I like lysander best.

queenmaeve · 14/07/2011 10:40

I like akemi the best, it seems to fit in with the room you are describing. The lysander is pretty but I'd imagine would date quicker. Choosing soft furnishings is my favourite past time!

revolutionscoop · 14/07/2011 10:43

Definitely not the greta!

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 14/07/2011 10:49

I agree with your friend and find rihana old fashioned.
Mikado is the best IMO.

heleninahandcart · 14/07/2011 11:27

Rhiana nut for safe choice

Greta for great colour with nice blend of possible accent colours for cushions etc that you can add later

VegetablePatch · 14/07/2011 11:34

I love Akemi too, but agree it's nicer in blue.

Really don't like Roma Seraphine, sorry.

I think I'd vote for Lysander in brick. Hope you're pleased with whichever one you decide upon, they're nearly all very nice really and the room sounds like it will be lovely.

nethunsreject · 14/07/2011 11:34

Any of th romos are lovely

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 14/07/2011 11:42

I love Akemi in blue, to the extent I've just ordered fabric to make some blinds, thank you very much !

Halogen · 16/07/2011 21:06

I don't think Rihana is old-fashioned! I'd say classic...

BitOfFun · 16/07/2011 21:14

I like the Greta.

SuePurblybilt · 16/07/2011 21:24

I thought the Rhiana one looked a bit Argos, but so much depends on the fabric and the room. The first one is very pretty but it might be limiting.
I'd say whichever you choose would be nice - they are all inoffensive.

SuePurblybilt · 16/07/2011 21:26

Sorry, lysander was the one I thought could look a little naff - Rhiana is fine Grin. Clearly I am not to be trusted.

VanillaRooibos · 16/07/2011 23:34

Roma Seraphine or Greta

oliviasmama · 16/07/2011 23:45

cio cio gets my vote too. just ordered our new curtains for two huge windows in the sitting room.....definately a must to get right and last for years!! £££££££!! Shock

snippywoo2 · 17/07/2011 01:27

Without seeing the room in situ I don't see how anyone can tell you what curtains would go tbh.
Just go with your gut, buy them take them home and try them as long as you don't pull the threads you can return them.

hatwoman · 17/07/2011 18:43

none of them are off the shelf/ready made - so I won't be able to take them back

OP posts:
flossymuldoon · 17/07/2011 18:53

I think Mikado is the nicest

whamfan · 17/07/2011 21:25
