To HATE it when DH falls asleep on the sofa?

He works nights....he's tired. But he won't sleep when he gets in from work at 7.30am ..he hangs about the kitchen for a few hours, then goes to bed at round 10 or 11.00.o Clock...fair enough...he has to chill out and have something to eat.

But he then gets up too soon...like at around 2.00pm and does his thing...plays with DC (nice) but then once the DC are in bed he lies on the sofa and snores. He wakes up intermitently to moan about what's on TV etc...but it means I can't fully relax.

We are very careful not to wake him when he's in bed after a night shift...he also wears earplugs...

He's taking up most of the sofa and I can ether sit on the other chair (miles from the TV) or sit squashed by this big, snoring beast who sometimes goes "Blech...waaa? Whossat?!"

Angry

He needs to sort it out. His Mum and Dad also fall asleep on my sofa...it must be a family thing! IN my childhood home, if you are tired you go to frigging bed!

And yes it's selfish for him to take up the sofa space, especially when he's most likely disturbing his own sleep by doing so! Falling asleep unplanned after a particularly hard day, fair enough. Pretty much using it as a bed is not on really.

Finally people who understand Grin.

This drives me up the wall too- and DH also works nights.
I really do try to be understanding but how can a grown man not feel the signs that he is getting sleepy and take himself to bed. I just don't get it, sofas aren't as comfy as bed. Specially when they are 2 seater and you're six foot!
And don't get me started on that funky slept in smell it leaves sometimes - IN THE LOUNGE, WHERE I WANT TO SIT WITH FRIENDS.......and the worn dents on the cushions IN THE WRONG PLACE FOR SITTING...
Thanks I feel better for getting that off my chest

Since I'm currently bored at work doing the night shift, I thought I would give my part about this topic!

Its very hard to get into sleeping in the day and takes a lot of practice, I still don't have it down after 18 months as bertie said ^^

My best suggestion would be to try and get him to go to sleep around 8 ~9ish then sleep till around 3. Once that's done, he can be awake for the rest of the day and have another hour or two (depending on what time he woke up) in the evening.

He also may be feeling upset he isn't able to spend as much time with you as he would with a day shift. I've tried to keep myself awake many times after Berties DS has fallen asleep so we can have some time together however I normally fail.

Sleeping on the sofa isn't good at all for your nap since you can't get into a nice cycle, just laying on the bed for 45 mins in the evening normally does it for me and I'll be awake for the rest of the night.

The sofa thing may be a family trait or he may feel bad for not spending as much time with you as I said, I would suggest just having a word with him :)

p.s. I can sleep thru ds screaming bertie since thats normal.

I can't sleep thru you shouting since you sound upset and it just wakes me up. Then I turn all man like, go outside and spit and make fire!

ug.

You sound like you're giving me advice on a BABY! He's a man. He has to do this himself.
