to think you shouldn't climb through the window unannounced

My mum sent my brother round to give back a book I'd lent her. I'd left a window open so instead of ringing the bell he just climbed through the window, he then wandered into the living room and scared the living daylights out of dd and me. I found this quite annoying but he just seem to get why it bothered me. AIBU?

by really nice area, only saying that it's not the sort of place where you'd be daft and unaware, but you're certainly not worried, like I have been in other places i've lived.

I think it sounds like age appropriate behaviour. Don't be too hard on him!

from his point of view it is just a bit of harmless fun

however it has brought home to you how easy it would be for an undesirable to do the same.

I'd tighten up your locking behaviour if I were you. You could get an opening limiter so you don't have to keep them shut. Also stops small children falling out.

If you tell me wood/plastic/aluminium, and sash/casement/transom I can suggest something if you want. Easy DIY fit usually.

p.s, "really nice areas" are always the ones I go to when I'm out burgling, they have the nicest stuff Wink

It would have made me jump. Then laugh. Then plot my revenge.

It would not, however, make me close and lock all windows and doors.

piglet I know! you'd be disappointed if you burgled our house though!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 11/07/2011 13:52

I think you need a sense of humour transplant Wink

omg that brings back memories of the night me and my friend were walking home pissed and noticed my cousins window open in his flat, we could hear them all laughing and music etc so knew they were having a party, so we jumped in through the window and walked to the living room to be met by an axe and a baseball bat Shock thankfully they realised it was me before swinging them lol

I'd tell him not to be such a buffoon next time he plans to arrive unannounced. But then he's 14, it comes with the territory.
