My mum sent my brother round to give back a book I'd lent her. I'd left a window open so instead of ringing the bell he just climbed through the window, he then wandered into the living room and scared the living daylights out of dd and me. I found this quite annoying but he just seem to get why it bothered me. AIBU?

however it has brought home to you how easy it would be for an undesirable to do the same.

I'd tighten up your locking behaviour if I were you. You could get an opening limiter so you don't have to keep them shut. Also stops small children falling out.

If you tell me wood/plastic/aluminium, and sash/casement/transom I can suggest something if you want. Easy DIY fit usually.

p.s, "really nice areas" are always the ones I go to when I'm out burgling, they have the nicest stuff

omg that brings back memories of the night me and my friend were walking home pissed and noticed my cousins window open in his flat, we could hear them all laughing and music etc so knew they were having a party, so we jumped in through the window and walked to the living room to be met by an axe and a baseball bat thankfully they realised it was me before swinging them lol

I'd tell him not to be such a buffoon next time he plans to arrive unannounced. But then he's 14, it comes with the territory.
