To think Feastival Music should stop by 11pm!!

lisad123 · 09/07/2011 23:11

Im unlucky enough to live near to where the Sonisphere Feastival is, which is heavy rock music, like linkin park, matalica ect, so pretty heavey stuff.

People start arriving on the Thursday and the whole thing kicks off on a Friday until Monday. The music is going all day but is also going passed 11pm, I managed to get to sleep at about 12am last night it was still going :(

Its bad enough that all the cash points are emptied the roads are shut and the whole place is full of young people dressed in black and metal, but I have had enough now.

AIBU??

You are being extremely unreasonable I will in fact be happy to swap houses with you tommorow , imagine the barbeques you could have metallica playing
live in the background.

I need to lie down.

inatrance · 10/07/2011 01:07

Get some earplugs. Job done.

Tigerbomb · 10/07/2011 01:10

Lisa123, I will happily swap house with you next year. I will even throw in my DH to act as your personal cook and chauffer.

Can I please come and camp in your garden.

iscream · 10/07/2011 01:14

Headphones, or go visit someone who lives out of hearing distance?

InWithTheITCrowd · 10/07/2011 06:37

I live v close to download. I love it! So much fun. Yabu :)

misdee · 10/07/2011 06:47

2shoes · 10/07/2011 07:31

yabu, but only cos I want to be there

HoneyNorwegianRidgebackdragon · 10/07/2011 08:54

My bro got to listen to Elton John in his garden a couple of weeks ago he said it was shit, and felt sorry for the people who'd paid to here it Sad

CurlyBoy · 10/07/2011 10:03

Count me in for camping in your garden as well! I think you are being a bit unreasonable as it's only one weekend a year. If it's that much of a pain you have the right idea of being out of town for it.

JanMorrow · 10/07/2011 10:07

11pm? Ha.. it's for three or four days, deal with it.

HairyGrotter · 10/07/2011 10:09

My family live in Stevenage, they are ok with it. YABVU.

I wish I were there waaaaaaa

TidyDancer · 10/07/2011 11:50

Another Hertfordshire dweller here! Am in the process of considering a move close to Sonisphere (I swear, not the only reason we're going that way!), so all back to mine for next year, okay? I'll ship the kids to the GP's, and we'll turn the garden into a mosh pit! Who's with me? Grin

cookielove · 10/07/2011 11:55

I am a hertfordshire dweller as well, and dp is there right now, although i think he is getting to old for it now, he asked me to come get him yesterday, he came home for some food and a shower, and a bit of chill out time ahhh bless him Grin

HairyGrotter · 10/07/2011 11:56

I'm in

iMum · 11/07/2011 22:44

Got home today, it was a fab weekend-The Sisters of Mercy were awesome-I am truly broken now tho!

lisad123 · 11/07/2011 22:48

I drove via the leisure park earlier to see hunreds of carnival dwellers camped outside, Mcdonalds, KFC and pizza hut! there was rubbish everywhere :(

Gemjar · 11/07/2011 22:55

I love how many metal fans there are on here ../

YABU, I would love to be able to hear it from home. With 2 very small children I can't really justify leaving them for a week to go to a festival for at least the next few years and so being able to hear it from the comfort of our own back garden would be awesome

LynetteScavo · 11/07/2011 23:11

So that is what Bill Bailey does!

Mumsnet is so educational!

If the NEC, which is sooo far from anything redsidential has a cut off of 11pm, then YANBU. (Which the NEC does have...I was there a few weeks ago and Boy George had to finish his set before the end.) I did not just admit to that, BTW.

Bast · 12/07/2011 03:47

YANBU.

When I go to a festy, I get pissed off if I can hear music from the family camping field at night!

The advantages you have are not having your tent fallen on by pissed people, your ropes tripped over or nos hyena's cackling feet away, aaaallllll night.

Earplugs all round Wink

girlywhirly · 12/07/2011 09:31

I'm in Hitchin and went to Rhythms of the World. Much more civilized, and walkable from our house, able to sleep in own comfy dry bed. Yes I know I sound boring, but I'm getting on a bit!

And the vicar and his band doing 'Born to be Wild' was classic!

SockMunkee · 16/07/2011 12:51

YABVU I went to Sonisphere this year, it was fab :) Its only one weekend

TiredMonkey · 16/07/2011 14:43

YABU.

I was there, it was awesome if a little damp. No such thing as too old either. I'm 35 in a few weeks, and some of the friends I meet up with at festivals and gigs are well into their 50s.

It's only one weekend a year and there have been gigs/festivals held at Knebworth forever!

And it is unreasonable and boring to want to be able to sleep undisturbed with your windows open on a warm night in July because . . . ?
