Newsflash... Labour did win the 'poor North'. Where were you? Historically, they may have done more for the poor but they let that section of society down very badly for the last 13 years. Paying people to stay poor is no good when what theys should have been doing was creating jobs and getting people into them.

Maypole - I don't think you'll find a Labour government with a cabinet stuffed full of millionaires, or where the top cabinet positions are exclusively held by men who attended a handful of the most elite public schools (with one exception, William Hague). The Tories are extreme.

Tories give people the kick up the arse they need to make something of their lives. Labout would prefer they spent their lives on benefits or working for the public sector, and continuing to vote Labour.

Give me the Tories any day. I don't want to live in a country where people feel that not working is a legitimate lifestyle choice, that people who work for low wages are "mugs", that some jobs are "only for immigrants" and that non-workers are entitled to be able to live the same lifestyle as workers.
