School does a 'Pop project' every summer. Yr9s get a chance to get a band together and play at a gig. DS1 has been practising with his band twice a week for the last few terms. They decided to so Song 2 by Blur (Woohoo song). At first they didn't know who was going to sing because they were all too shy. So in the end DS agreed to do it. OK I admit I was a little sceptical because standing up in front of people saying 'look at me' is not DS's thing at all.

I managed to take an hour off to go and see them. I got there half way through the bands. There were the usual mixture of Spice Girl wannabes and one brave girl band singing Bryan Adams Confused, one good stab at You're beautiful' all of which were rich in enthusiam and giggles Grin Lots of support from the audience (Yrs8 and 9), teachers and a few parents. DS's band was the last one up - he got up on stage in his skinny jeans and Clash t-shirt and long blond mop and was bloody amazing! Streets ahead of all the others bands. I was absolutely blown away. And I prefer Mozart...

He is so shy I couldn't beleive he was standing up there in front of all those people, singing and playing like he'd been doing it all his life. And he taught the other guitarist to play.

I wanted to go and say well done before I nipped back to work but I didn't because I was feeling a bit tearful and all his mates were there. Rock Star - cool. Rock star with weeping mum - not so cool Grin

Yanbu! :)

It's great isn't it? My DD did a song all on her own at her last all school assembly.
I think the other audience members knew she was mine by the amount of tears and snot I was pumping out.
Well done Orms son.

NatallU!

Well done him (and you of course! Wink)

They have also been awarded a recording session at the college because they were the most determined and hardworking band.

I need some champagne!

Fab. I have a child who shuffles on to the stage with his shoulders hunched. I am so happy you got to see you child being to confident. Well done too for not showing him up. A damon in the making. X

cutie - absolutely! I am waiting for him to be kept in the style I want to become accustomed to. He has already said he's buying me a big house and DH a jag when he makes his first million - but he was intending to make that from building the first faster-than-light plane so I think we might have been waiting a long time.....

And best of all DH managed to get there just in time to see them. And he said he was proud of him and meant it - they haven't been getting on that well recently.

Sewmuchtodo · 08/07/2011 16:14

Ormirian · 08/07/2011 16:19
