School does a 'Pop project' every summer. Yr9s get a chance to get a band together and play at a gig. DS1 has been practising with his band twice a week for the last few terms. They decided to so Song 2 by Blur (Woohoo song).At first they didn't know who was going to sing because they were all too shy. So in the end DS agreed to do it. OK I admit I was a little sceptical because standing up in front of people saying 'look at me' is not DS's thing at all.
I managed to take an hour off to go and see them. I got there half way through the bands. There were the usual mixture of Spice Girl wannabes and one brave girl band singing Bryan Adams 
, one good stab at You're beautiful' all of which were rich in enthusiam and giggles 
Lots of support from the audience (Yrs8 and 9), teachers and a few parents. DS's band was the last one up - he got up on stage in his skinny jeans and Clash t-shirt and long blond mop and was bloody amazing! Streets ahead of all the others bands. I was absolutely blown away. And I prefer Mozart...
He is so shy I couldn't beleive he was standing up there in front of all those people, singing and playing like he'd been doing it all his life. And he taught the other guitarist to play.
I wanted to go and say well done before I nipped back to work but I didn't because I was feeling a bit tearful and all his mates were there. Rock Star - cool. Rock star with weeping mum - not so cool
