To think I don't need Kirstie Allsopp's/Persil's help to do activities with my DC?

O god, I probably am, but am watching 'Help My House Is Falling Down' (flipside of property porn, love it Blush) and there have been some tooth-achingly twee ads with La Allsopp and some adorable children (not hers, but seems to be pretending that they are?) crapping on about various activities to do - the crux of which seems to be that these will be terrific fun but will lead to your DC getting messy, thereby necessitating their clothes being washed in Persil.

I used to like Kirstie Allsopp, but increasingly she makes my teeth itch. I am sure some of the activities are lovely, and goodness knows I could probably do with some new ideas so I don't have to do 'action painting' in the garden with the spray bottles again (thank you for that one, Mister Maker Angry). But I dunno, the ads just made me feel really cranky.

But I love her! Shock
I especially love that blue and white shirt dress she keeps wearing on everything. I covet it! (Maybe I am turning into Hattie Jacques Shock)

What else can I add? Boyfriend used to fancy you. I admired you. Both of us watched Persil (small and stupid) ad in stunned silence. shuddered....then chucked up in the nearest thing to hand. Where's your mojo gone Kirsty? That ad's total shite and you've morphed into a spotless,wind-other-women-up,whiter-than-white, immaculate earth mother wearing a funny hat. No wonder Phil's done a runner!

I actually blame her & Phil partly for the housing crisis. All this sell your house for £200k more as you've knocked out a wall and put in fancy carpets nonsense.

She also has a range of stuff in M&S. I wish she would give up and go home. I doubt she is short of a bob or two.

Re Persil - It's like she has no dignity! For goodness sake your 15 mins are up Kirsty.

DH watched the one where she makes an indoor herb garden with the children and wondered aloud why you would bother if you had the herbs growing just outside in the garden.

Sorry i cant help but butting in, this woman drives me mad, i love the homemade home but more for the house things as im decorating my new house so get inspiration, BUT i cannot watch this woman for more than a few minutes and have to record it and fast forward through it, i watched 1 episode in normal speed once and must have spent 25 minutes of my life watching her try 2 different crafts both time with her mouth hanging open. if she shut it once in a while i could probably watch but this just drives me mad, she has a little piggy face so really doesn't look good with her mouth open and tongue nearly hanging out as it is.

I also dont like her holier than thou attitude when the fact she takes to twitter to pick on people is so childish and pathetic, go away woman. we know to buy at cheaper places and restore you've got your message across so jog on!

I've only seen the one where they make bread - what confused me was when she turned to them and said what a mess they both were in!!! They were both imaculate. Goodness only knows what she'd make of my 3yrold who came home from playgroup in a paint splattered t-shirt and a muddy jeans.
AND I still haven't gotten why she thought a sex pistols 'never mind the..' poster was appropriate for the childrens playroom in her 'homemade home'

I saw the indoor herb garden one.

It was illogical.

They fill plant pots with soil on the kitchen table, so KA can say "Look at you girls, I am going to have to put another wash on"

Then next ad break go out to the garden, dig up the herbs that are growing happily in their outdoor herb garden to put in their pots......because we all need two herb gardens Hmm

I'm guessing KA hasn't lived in a high rise council flat with no garden where one might find a need to do your potting on the kitchen table!

Drives me mad. that ad. Who on earth woulod sit children round a table indoors to fill pots with soil. You would do it outside, standing up ffs.

It's a shame really because 'piggy face' had a personalty once upon a time!
Think she maybe having one of those ' Oh fuck...really going to regret this Mrs Goodytwoshoes concept'
If she's not on Mumsnet surely a good friend will tell her to STOP WITH THE PERSIL NOW!

I happneed to catch one of these ads today. Couple of kids making herb gardens on the kitchen table. It was bizarrely entertaining.

  1. Why do that on the kitchen table when any normaL PERSON WOULd do it outside?
  2. AFter using big shiny spanking new trowels to shovel in some compost, why did the kids then scrunch up all the soil in their hands over and over?
  3. Who does Allsop think she is kidding, peddling her nonsense?
