Hes making cuts, why not make them in his own department of work? TWAT!

When you consider the amount of time many MPs spend at work - 18 hour days are not uncommon - and what they actually do (ie make HUGE decisions) and then compare it to company directors/NHS consultants, etc they earn a pretty average wage.

Personally I would rather they raised MP's wages and got rid of the expenses system, but that is my own opinion.

Cameron is rich in his own right. His wife is rich. MPs do get a stonking pension. My MP is vair vair rich; he claims that he went into politics to do some good. Being an MP is vair bad for one's marriage. The pension benefits they get are what should be looked at. But if it were worse, then the right people would not go into it (same with teaching). Not sure what the answer is.

I'd prefer them to take a career break.

I think the houses abroad (who were you thinking of? I am sure there are some but I can't think of any off the top of my head) often come from family money. And in Blair's case, his wife probably made more than him before she started winding down her work.

Terrible - you say 'if it were worse, the right people would not go into it'. Irony? There are some politicians (Dave Nellist, prob more?) who take only the average skilled wage of their constituents. This seems reasonable. Dennis Skinner did not claim for adaptations to his house done on doctor's orders.

all the MPs in our local area live in council houses and they do BRILL for our area, We have a local Labour MP who has a seat in houses of parliment who does a significant amount of work for our towns, this is the only job she does and has recently moved to a very large house and donates regularly too. It seems they help us more than David Cameron and Chums, however, that is my opinion, i just dont like Tories and I really dont like David Cameron!

Hi bananas, I'm sorry I'm being a bit slow this morning so I can't quite pinpoint your argument (you'll have to explain it to me). I don't follow why you want Tory MP's to take a pay cut, but why you're happy with your local MP's having state-subsidized housing.
