To hate asda right now?

I ordered my shopping to come today between 10-12 today, the plan was to then go out for the afternoon and then to cook dinner for my sister.

I ordered it on Friday morning but having lost my purse I had cancelled my card but asked my bank to make sure the asda transaction was honoured.

At gone 12pm today there had been no delivery. So I ring, get put on hold for 10mins the lady says she is sorry and will call me back with an explanation. 20 mins later no call swo I ring again, another 10 mins on hold another lady apologises and says she will get the store to call me back.

By 1pm I go to another supermarket and get my shopping.

By 2.30pm still no calls from asda to explain although I had guessed it was because my card had been cancelled BUT my question is:

Am I being unreasonable in expecting ASDA to call me before the expected delivery time and let me know the card hasn't worked and they are not going to be delivering my shopping, as then I would have gone shopping before 12pm and then would still have been able to have the afternoon out with dc's? (had to cancel because by the time I'd been shopping it was too late)

You can do this with your card. Last time I had issues with my card and it had to be cancelled I ran through with the bank any pending transactions I was expecting so they could honour them.

The card is irrelevant, if they could not take payment than they should have called to say the delivery wasn't coming UANBU.

i had occasion to ring Asda recently and complain. The packers thought it perfectly acceptable to put 2 2litre bottles of lemonade in the same bag as a six multipack of crisps. Angry
They also drive me mad by delivering fruit and veg with the same date on it as the delivery!!

I hate the fact that Asda are the cheapest, because they so often screw up with orders. I ordered 3 Cravendale milks, one ff, two skimmed (They were 3 for £4) They delivered 1 ff, but didn't have the brains to put any other brand of skimmed for a substitution (DH in bad mood, tramping off to corner shop)

I actually think half the supermarkets don't give a toss about home deliveries. Think about it - we're not wandering round, making impulse purchases, dumping high price stuff in the trolley, being too stressed to work out what is the cheapest, plus, if you're like me - I go through my order the day before delivery and shave things off the list, that I don't really need when I see how high the total is. How many people give back stuff at the till, if they think they have overspent? Added to which, they have increased petrol costs. I'm cynical about the reports out earlier in the week, that 'customers prefer real-life shopping'. Is that what the chains want us to think?
