Prob being very unreasonable to post on AIBU but hey its a sunday and quiet.......

I dont want white- got enough of those from first time round and DP wants this baby to have some clothes of its own at first so Im not buying white again when I have some already! (not same dad, can understand why, says he would feel the same even if second baby together)
The creams and beiges are just a little bland.

I just cant find anything thats reasonably priced - by which I mean £12ish for pack of 3. I did get a pack in M&S which were yellow/spotty/striped but that its.

John Lewis Unisex look a little boyish to me.
Mothercare are rubbish

Inspire me please!

We had some lovely stuff from here when DS was small : www.newfamilyshop.com/ssl/shopdisplaycategories.asp

Sleepsuits start from £1.59, I loved the purples and blues on him.

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 16:40

I would also recommend having a look at Next, I bought some nice and bright unisex vest's last week.

AuntiePickleBottom · 03/07/2011 16:44

Why can't a baby wear any colour

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 16:48

Im not that keen on mass blue or pink whatever the sex.

Ineedalife · 03/07/2011 17:07

We used to buy white and tie dye them, Dd2 and 3 had all sorts of funky colours and designs.

Auntiepickle

Because of societal norms and cultural expectations- and I have enough battles in my life to make it even more difficult by putting a boy in pink!

As it is this baby will be using some of ds clothes because I just don't care what colour it wears in public

Thanks lockets they were also recommended upthread. DP not keen on the grey though. Does it look better than on screen. I like them.

A link to what I bought:

The picture doesnt really show them off, I think they do some similar babygros for about £12 for 3.

opps.

allthefires · 03/07/2011 17:28

Thank you- we like those too in the sleepsuit.

Think I may sign up for a next directory- they do have some lovely things. By the time I pay for parking and petrol I may as well order online.

There are alot of romper suits that are lovely but baby due early nov and whilst you can put socks/cardi on with them it is a bit if a faff!

The newfamily website does some nice colours too.

If this baby is a girl I still don't want to go down the pink route especially as I'm hoping for dc3 in future!

Get thyself into John Lewis. There's a bigger range in shop vs online, and the unisex are NOT boyish - there's a gorgeous series ATM with woodland animals for instance that's v. Sweet.

Also a big bibaloo sale on right now that might have what you're looking for.

You can also dye your old White onesies etc fun colours to give them a new lease of life.

Oh lockets so cute! I have to get them now. Your baby is scrummy.

John Lewis is a good 3 hour drive away-will look again online. Just ordered a lovely red star blanket whilst looking for sleepsuits.

I think you get what you pay for £12 for M&S ones is money well spent on new born skin.

BikeRunSki · 03/07/2011 18:05

Oh, where did you get your red star blanket allthefires?

NorkyButNice · 03/07/2011 18:09

I bought some great multipacks from Mothercare recently. I think the slleepsuits are more like 16 pounds for 3 but that was age 12-18 months so newborn may be cheaper.

They've got lots of unisex patterns, stripes, animals, spots, apples - all sorts.

anniroc · 03/07/2011 18:10

H&M is brilliant for baby clothes generally, and they also sell lovely (often organic cotton) bodysuits/vests in lots of different primary colours, cheap as chips!

allthefires · 03/07/2011 18:11

John Lewis- www.johnlewis.com/230515314/Product.aspx

It sums up my taste perfectly.

What I have learnt from DS is a few good quality things are better than load of run of the mill stuff. This time round whilst we arent well off I can afford to buy some nice things as i am willing to reuse other things.

How many sleepsuits do you all reckon? Just for early days- hospital bag and home. We have ones left over from DS - this is just to please DP afterall!

I have the 3 from M&S and am definately buying the 3pk that bagelmonkey and lockets suggested. Do i need another 3? Amazing how time erases the memory from first borns first days!

OP posts:
BikeRunSki · 03/07/2011 18:29

allthefires You (and I) have imppecable taste! If I were you I'd check out H&M.

DS is nearly and I am 24 pg with DC2 - I can;t remember a thing about how many baby grows etc we need either!

allthefires · 03/07/2011 18:32

Thank you. Will take the train to local H&M and bribe DS with a trip on the big wheel. Am only 22 weeks but want to get shopping done as already finding it difficult to walk at the moment.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 03/07/2011 18:39

dd2 is 6 weeks and I have about 10. I do at least 2 costume changes at crap o'clock, and about 4 - 5 throughout the day.
