To consider a boob job

VivienScott · 30/06/2011 10:26

OK I know, I know! I know what most people, including myself think of boob jobs, and it's generally fairly negative and brings to mind vacuous 20 year old wannabes, I KNOW THIS!

BUT...

I have no bust. Nothing at all. I can't even fill an A cup. After pregnancy and breast feeding all I have left are 2 saggy bits of skin with nipples and I'm not exaggerating. I've never been busty, I'm what would be described politely as 'athletic' or less politely as 'skinny' but before kids I had a b cup bust that I was happy with, I've never wanted big ones and when I was breast feeding actually didn't really like having large breasts. All I want is to have something to put in a bra/bikini. I know it's surgery and all the risks, but I'm still thinking about it and also considering the temporary injections and even the fat transfer you can have now which are more for someone in my position and less invasive.

AIBU???

YANBU - it's your body - do with it as you will. Make sure you research it all properly and go to a proper accredited surgeon etc.

birdofthenorth · 30/06/2011 10:34

Yanbu, I reckon I'd consider a little boob lift & tummy tuck when I'm done breeding!!

But only if you want to. If not, wear good bras, including during sex, in the fashion of Carrie Bradshaw Grin

And remember a lack of boobs at least makes you look thin Wink

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 30/06/2011 10:37

YANBU..just do your research and make sure you get the best treatment etc!!

If I had the money I would so love lipo on my thighs!

worraliberty · 30/06/2011 10:37

YANBU

I saved up for one years ago...then chickened out at the last minute and took the kids to Disneyland instead!

But once I got to roughly 34yrs old, I managed to put weight on and I now have a home grown pair Grin

It's your body...do what you want with it. Just do it sensibly..lots of research etc and think about whether you'll be able to afford to maintain them.

itisnearlysummer · 30/06/2011 10:43

Ha ha worra that's what I did - put on weight and grew my own.

Got complimented on them yesterday by a mum at school I was most chuffed!

OP, YANBU, just research it well.

aldiwhore · 30/06/2011 10:44

YANBU

MilyP · 30/06/2011 10:47

YANBU so long as you can afford it. But if you are going to have to borrow money to do it then I think it is even more of an important decision. I don't think you should get yourself into debt for a boob job.

worraliberty · 30/06/2011 10:49

Summer It's nice not to hear the sound of chicken fillets hitting the floor when I take my bra off Grin

Omigawd · 30/06/2011 10:53

YANBU but don't overdo it - friend of mine had perfectly nice small boobs (well the blokes all seemed to like her anyway), and then after kids had these absolute monsters done and it just looks odd.

Agree re not going into debt, the reposession coul be messy :o

UpsyDaisyDo · 30/06/2011 10:58

YANBU. I did it - two years ago. Best thing ever. They don't look fake/huge/stuck on at all. www.breastbuddies.co.uk is a nice friendly forum for advice and research xx

happy2bhomely · 30/06/2011 12:08

I sympathise with you. I would love to get mine done, but I've only just finished breast feeding so I'm going to wait and see what they are like in a few months. I'm about 1 1/2 stone overweight, so when I lose that, they are going to disappear. I'm considering getting them done for my 30th. I've never been happy with my bust. I'm very small on top with a fat arse so I can't even be called 'athletic'. I'm just curvy without the boobs!

ElBombero · 01/07/2014 21:44

Breastbuddies.co.uk no longer available

Kleptronic · 01/07/2014 21:52

Oh I want this, but am very conflicted about it. If I'm a stone and a half overweight, mine are fine, but I don't like the rest of me. If I'm not, they're just empty flaps.

Then there's my feminist principles/the risks/the I should be happy whatever/the I'm too tired to think about it never mind research it.

Then, I also have a bunion on one foot, which pains me, however I'm loathe to risk the risks for that too, even though I wouldn't have to pay. So then I'm doubly bamboozled.

Sorry, that was no help Grin

Joysmum · 01/07/2014 22:51

I did it.

I lost a lot of weight and had empty sacs with nipples on. I am now a large B cup/ small C cup. I was a B cup before I lost my weight.

I chose a surgeon that also works for the NHS so I knew he'd be up to date and not a charlatan.

I would say that I feel like me, I've gone for a natural shape and nobody would know if I wasn't honest about it.

Word of warning though, having been honest about it, it's bought out others who confided in me about theirs and ALL of us have experienced changes in sensation, be it limited or hyper, and this has meant I don't enjoy my breasts being touched in sex. However I'm now much more confident in sex so the change in sensation has been worth it.

FloozeyLoozey · 01/07/2014 23:09

I'd love an uplift. My boobs are big but sooooooo saggy! Nipples to the floor!

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2014 23:16

The issue I have with them is that they will have to be replaced in 10-15 years - surgery as you get older is more risky.

I find the idea of surgery terrifying now even though I've been offered reductions on the nhs. (Size 34 J/K with a really buggered back)

BomberManIsAGirl · 01/07/2014 23:16

I would worry about how it would look and about the loss of sensation but that's not to say I think YABU. It always concerns me when I see celebs with the most awful fake looking boobies eg victoria Beckham. You would think they could afford the very best surgeons and yet some of them end up with terrible looking boob jobs. I suppose it's hard to balence this with all the successful boob jobs because they are the ones that you don't notice.

I also think that the thought of something that's not 'me' being inside my boobs would be off putting. My boobs are animportant part of my sex life. Confused. I would worry they wouldn't feel right.

I don't think I would be bothered by the thought of surgery. I can't imagine it's too bad.

My boobs went very flat after BF for quite a few years and even when they began to get a bit fuller they were not a great shape. It took quite a while (maybe 5 years?) before their shape improved - my weight is very stable so these changes were not weight related. I don't know if this is typical of other people though. My boobs have never returned to their pre BF/pregnancy shape though Sad

However, If it does bother you and you can afford it there is nothing wrong with having a boob job if that's what you want. It's not unusual.

AnotherSpinningFuckingRainbow · 01/07/2014 23:20

I wonder if the OP ever did get her boobs done?

MaloryArcher · 01/07/2014 23:21

YANBU.

My boobs have miraculously survived and even thrived after DC (bigger but still as perky) but I'm planning a tummy tuck + lipo early next year as my stomach is utterly FUBAR and beyond the help of any amount of diet and exercise Sad .

Go for it. Do your research and get the best surgeon you can find.

BomberManIsAGirl · 01/07/2014 23:27
