I was going to suggest the letters inviting them to interview hadn't arrived. Then I read they had said they had confirmed their attendance.

Why doesn't that happen to me? Mind you I am so rubbish I don't get invited to interview.

Bohica · 27/06/2011 18:10

I've experienced the same today. I phoned 3 applicants, left 3 messages & received no call backs accepting interviews.

Any-one want a weekend receptionist job?

HidinginaHardHat · 27/06/2011 18:10

WOOHOO!

Well that solves the job loss problem :o

Seriously though, I hate hearing of this when I don't even get a reply to my application :(

[Bitchslaps hardhat for nicking Wellies' job Angry]

purplepidjin · 27/06/2011 18:33

YANBU, how rude!! Do these people not know how hard it is to find a half decent job?

PS Same as hardhat!! Job specs please Grin Really really need to get out of low-pay-long-shift care work. On the plus side, I'm really good at communicating because most of the people i talk to struggle with it. Also good at defusing office politics and dealing with stroppy colleagues as i've had so much behaviour management training - any ideas on how to word that on a CV welcome!!

Sorry cock our position isn't near you. I don't want to say to much online but if any-one wants to know specifics then feel free to pm me.

readywithwellies · 27/06/2011 19:21

Also by not turning up someone who could have been shortlisted might not even get a chance!

I think this is well out of order - we were interviewing last Thursday, had 8 people scheduled, 2 cancelled, 2 no shows, 4 showed up. Fortunately 2 were really good and as it turns out we have 2 posts going.

I'd never just not show up, and even if I had an unforeseen disaster where I couldn't communicate on the day (i.e. car crash where I was injured) I'd make a point of getting in touch as soon as I was well enough to let the people know what had happened.

My manager keeps a list of everyone who has applied in the last year as jobs come up regularly - we have to interview previous no-shows if they meet shortlisting criteria, but we put them at the end of the day so we can all go home if it's clear they're pulling another no-show.

superparty · 27/06/2011 23:19

I don't know if its still the same, but if you are signing on, don't you have to show your actively looking for work. so maybe they take their letters inviting them for interview to their benefit reviews and say 'yeah, got an interview but didn't get the job'.

omg pointy do you not feel like sending a letter saying even though you meet the criteria, you never bothered showing up last time so feck off and have your jobseekers stopped. yeah for getting to go home early :))
