To be appalled at the way the young tennis player dismissed her dad from the court

Did anybody see it? She pointed at him and gestured for him to get off, like he was a stray dog.

I was absolutely appalled that she treated him this way and in public too. He meekly left. I would rather have a decent human being for a child than a brat tennis star. The Wimbledon presenters took it on the chin - regrettable but well, that's how it goes. No it doesn't imo.

OP posts:

Yes, both her parents were watching and very much more subdued

Marion gave an interview after her win over Serena Williams just now, expressed regret about how she expressed her anger on Saturday and said that she owed her success to her dad !

I like her

I want Marion to win against that supermodel Sharapova

HHLimbo · 27/06/2011 15:31

Im quite impressed too. She is a world class player in the middle of a match, if she felt she would concentrate better then she probably should do it.

I dont see why the OP was so appalled. Is is because she is young, or because she is female?

AnyFucker · 27/06/2011 15:32

she isn't that young, for a tennis player !

bananamonkey · 27/06/2011 15:38

Yes I would've been as appalled if she was an adult Penguin."

Are only penguin babies allowed to enter Wimbledon then? Grin

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 27/06/2011 15:42

Hurrah!!! Bartoli has just thrashed one of the ghastly Williams sisters, and I hope Pironkova can thrash the other.

Well done Marion, and she was quite right to exile her df the other day - this is top league tennis not a local club tournament and all of the players need to rid themselves of unnecessary distractions in order to play their best.

Anyone else appalled at the ludicrous outfit Venus is wearing? Looks like it's made out of pure polyester.

AnyFucker · 27/06/2011 15:46

yes, the Venus outfit is just being silly for silly's sake

Pironkova also looks like she is wearing a saggy nappy

AnyFucker · 27/06/2011 15:47

what is wrong with good old shorts and t-shirt or at least a neat little A-line tennis skirt ?

what's with the yellow kecks underneath ?

bizarre

BitOfFun · 27/06/2011 15:54

It's kind of bridal-looking, isn't it? I like the other player's top though. Can you tell I know nothing about tennis? Grin

Looks like she's wearing gold 'lift and separate' all-in-one spanx that have failed to produce the desired effect on her top half.

I can only lament the passing of Wimbledon's strict dress code? Why aren't male players required to wear very short shorts any more?

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 27/06/2011 16:05

Shouldn't she be wearing bow tie with that outfit Maryz Grin

Anyone see the photos of the lady gaga lookalike wearing the jacket made of what looked like white tennis balls?

BitOfFun · 27/06/2011 16:09

I really like that outfit, especially the shorts. And Peronkova's frilly skirt is nice too. Even if she looks like she is being sponsored by All Saints.

Animation · 27/06/2011 16:16

She's a WINNER. I knew it!!

Hope she wins the tournament. Grin

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 27/06/2011 16:26

Here we have the lady gaga of this year's Wimbledon: www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=6&ved=0CEwQFjAF&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.womenstennisblog.com%2Fcategory%2Fplayers%2Fbethanie-mattek-sands%2F&rct=j&q=lady%20gaga%20of%20the%20tennis%20courts&ei=vJ4ITuzOKIaWhQfgsqTKDQ&usg=AFQjCNHVJsVZoOf6Zr7eDCVFc6JDnFsL_g&cad=rja

It beggars belief that someone 'designed' Venus's outfit, let alone was willing to put their name to it. It's both hideous and ridiculous and I can't imagine that it's comfortable to play in on this swelteringly hot day, especially with so much excess material under the arms.

mayorquimby · 27/06/2011 16:48

I don't know how Venus can play in the outfit she's wearing at the moment.
Maybe it's a male thing and I'm missing something but surely the loose hanging/baggy sleeve parts would be distracting and annoying?

Turns out she can't play in it

AnyFucker · 27/06/2011 16:53
Smile
AnyFucker · 27/06/2011 16:54

before I had the kids and needed to save annual leave for the summer hols, I used to take 2 wks off work, just to watch Wimbledon

I love it

those were the days < sigh >

mayorquimby · 27/06/2011 16:55

What kind of fucking question is that from the interviewer ?
"Was Venus below par?"
Fuck off. She played her off the court and beat her in straight sets, if Venus couldn't handle her then it's nowt to do with her, she can only beat what's in front of her.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 27/06/2011 17:18

Mmmmm, yummy, it's Nadal now.

Very short shorts can only improve your already astounding game Rafa, and, if that's not enough to convince you, please spare a thought for your No.1 fan

Loving the posters of half naked Rafa that are currently plastered on some London buses, even if it is the wrong half and I'm in serious danger of getting mowed down by passing pedestrians and traffic whenever I crane my neck to leer lustfully.
