I wouldn't have taken out one of these contracts in the first place. I bought my iphone4 outright purely because I couldn't bear to pay twice for it over the course of a 2 year contract.

But if I had done this, I would give it him now. But i'm a soft touch with the kids so dont listen to me.

i'm a soft touch too and there is no way i could hold on to a present for that long without handing it over.

if you can, i'd hold onto it for christmas.

I wouls have it now and have it for all the family to use tbh.

The other year DH won a Wii when they first came out and some said save it until Christmas but we put it up for all the family to use. I don't regret it.

shineoncrazy

how much do you pay per month? I'm debating switching.

I bought my phone outright for 503 quid and my contract is 21 a month for unlimited text and data plus 500 mins with O2. I could have taken out a 2 year contract for £ 45 a month and got the phone for 'free' but it's a damn sight more of an outlay than the 500 was.

I thought o2 stopped offering unlimited data before the iPhone 4 came out?

I guess with contracts it depends how much you normally spend. DH uses his for work so his bill was £45 a month anyway, so he got his iPhone free. I hardly use it so I did the same as shiney.

Not sure trixy. I never get charged on top of what I pay a month and use the net all the time. Maybe I just within limits or something. It always amazes me that people think phones are 'free' on contract!

I think the limits are normally fine for normal use, they were just to stop people taking the sim cards out and putting them in other devices and downloading massive amounts of data.

I never go above my limit either and I'm on the Internet all the time on my iPhone. I just wouldn't want you to get a bit of a shock thinking it's unlimited as I'm pretty sure most providers stopped unlimited data just before the iphone4 came out.

Please dont think me rude but are there any games suitable for a 9yr old on the xbox 360?

See I have unlimited Data and have got them to reduce it to £35. They promised a upgrade to the iphone 4 halfway through but have reneged. All the "upgrades" are £150 phones that aren't compatible with the bolt on Angry

Let me guess dh wants an xbox?? Hmm

Put it away, its a bit much as a "freebie" for a 9 year old don't you think? I'd definitly make him wait till xmas and if you say its an early xmas present you know full well a 9 year old wont rememeber or count that on the day!

Definitely put it away for Christmas, but maybe buy him one or two of the Lego games to go with it, there are quite a few of them available now. :)
