Sorry another boarding school thread

What I want to know is whether there are any boarding schools that take 36 yo's. I quite fancy weekly boarding so I'd come home and see dh and the dc at the weekend. I like the idea of having my meals made for me and some of the evening activities so like loads of fun.

If you find one, do ask if they take 46 yos too.

Can you also find out if there are organisations arranging gap years for 50 year olds - I missed out as an 18 year old!

I used to tell my grandmother to go into sheltered accommodation on accoun of it being like halls of residence.

In same vein I am working all summer in a residential place and soooo looking ofrward to others dealing with all the domestic chores.

(Boarding school was fun by the way. Did 7 years of it and had a ball.)

Hassled that is fab! Maybe you should just pretend to have been on a gap year just so you can do that.

The best thing is on a Sunday night, they put up a plan for the following week setting out all the meals.
So you never need to menu plan, prepare, cook, wash up or have that hideous 4.30pm realisation that you have not a single ingredient or even recipe idea in your head, and that everyone will expect a meal in half an hours time.
Also, boarding schools generally supply doughnuts on Tuesdays. IMHE.

Go and work in one?

My DD is just packing her trunk for camp. I am so jealous. Swimming in the lake, campfires, horse-riding - everything I dreamed of at her age. I did go to boarding school and camp looks a million times better.

moondog-my 86 year old grannys just went into sheltered and she has a better social life than me. Its definately opened my eyes to it. Im thinking about applying at 55. She goes for a pub lunch once a week, trips and evening shows. She gets her washing and ironing done for £4 per week and the hairdresser and beautician come in once a week. Cant bloody wait

It would be brilliant! no cooking, no getting up early to wait for the bus in the rain, lots of interesting lessons, and your friends would all live in the same house as you....day dreams about boarding school for grownups

To say nothing of super comfy armchairs that sort of push you up when yo get out of them.Waht's not to like frankly?

My granmother had a friend in a lovely one.The residents could tune in to CCTV on their tvs and keep an eye on comings and goings.
A fair few gentlemen callers by all accounts.

I'm only coming if I can creep down to the moonlit swimming pool in the middle of the night and eat tinned peaches.

Actually it would be quite nice just to be told what to think instead of having to do it for myself. And I'd like to learn some history.

Join a convent? No thinking required, none of that awful sex stuff (although still too much getting down on your knees, IMO), uniform optional. No financial worries, but all mod cons. What's not to like?
