I'm interested what people think about the difference between the two.

I only ever hear Judgemental on Mumsnet. It's just not used in real life.

It's a lazy argument telling someone that they are being judgemental, I would much rather see the issue tackled head on without random accusations of Judging.

It's very tedious and very lazy.

I agree. Accusing someone of being judgemental on MN often seems to be a substitute for reasoned, informed discussion or debate. And I just don't understand this condemnation of everyone who judges - I don't believe for one second that there is anyone alive who can claim they have never, ever judged another person for something. And in some cases I think it is important to judge.

:) rafa - i've come off it myself - it was doing me no good!

I agree AlOusieG - I think its a lazy argument. I think a reasoned debate it healthy and interesting and to say "well that's judging" can stop that from taking place

halcyondays · 21/06/2011 20:21

Everybody judges to some extent, but I can't understand why some people get so worked up about petty little things like seeing a 3 year old with a dummy. I don't tend to judge other people's parenting too harshly (I'm far from perfect myself) unless they're doing something that's venturing into "call social services" territory.

joric · 21/06/2011 21:25

Starting to think judgement should be saved for when someone's words or actions are seriously hurting someone else.. and ( like you say halcy) NOT for trivial things.. Eg. She spends husband's wages having hair and nails done, she must be a lazy, spoilt , ungrateful sponger ???

Sorry, I've pretty much just repeated what you've said halcy.. Got to go to sleep!!
