AIBU to NOT want to go to A&E with broken little toe?

I was at a children's party on Sunday and collided with a child in trainers and think I have broken my toe - red, bruised and swollen. I went to my GP this morning to get it looked at but was told to go to A&E.........really? was surprised - thought a nurse would just bandage it up as I was told (last time I broke same toe!) that they pretty much heal themselves. Anyone had any experience of this? should I go A&E? or just hobble on until Thursday until I can see my GP?

I broke and dislocated my little toe years ago, had to be bent back into place under local. (My sis in the room fainted when they injected it in!) Dr came back in and was confused as to who was actually the patient, me in wheel chair, her passed out on a bed as we are twins.
Was on crutches for 3 weeks.

Ive broken toes and fingers. Just strapped them up myself at home and 'battled' on.

YANBU. I suspect I broke my toe several years ago, went to walk-in clinic (toes are definitely not A&E worthy unless a bone is poking out) and they said they don't bother to x-ray toes, they strapped it.
