He seems to be under the illusion that you are supposed to add milk to the eggs when making an omelette, but not when you are making scrambled eggs. I think this is completely ridiculous and should be the other way around. Scrambled eggs always have milk, omelettes never do. AIBU?

Shock he's gaslighting me, isn't he? Wink

Trillian: Yes. Yes it is. Grin (I'm allowed to be smug about that since XP was a total abusive wanker. I still can't get over the fact me and DP have arguments about normal things, like eggs.)

Now I'm totally confused, by the way. And water?? In an omelette? Confused

To be fair I can't taste the difference. It was the principle!

eww milk in an omelet? thats wrong.

an omlet and scrambled eggs have egg and black pepper and nothing else.

SydSaid · 20/06/2011 12:19

"Fuck milk, get yourself some double cream."

Is THAT how they make it Shock I never knew!!

Paschaelina · 20/06/2011 12:53

The war thing makes sense though, if people were making it out of dried egg powder if fresh eggs weren't available.

I'm with Knitted Breast on the right way to have eggs, except I spell it omelette. Smile

AmberLeaf · 20/06/2011 13:19

Im with Delia...just eggs.

If you add ilk to scrambled you end up with a liquidy residue too-yuk

PigletJohn · 20/06/2011 13:27

Milk in scrambled eggs does give them a very different texture and less flavour. I quite like it though.

However I can't understand how you can get an omelette to come out right if you put anything but chilled water in it.

I have added milk to both; but to be honest I prefer both without milk. Unless I'm a little short on eggs, in which case the milk makes them go a tiny bit further.

Whatever you do, don't add cream - it makes everything waaaay too gloopy.

winnybella · 20/06/2011 13:33

I add a bit of milk to omelettes and they come out fine, no liquidy residue whatsoever. No milk in scrambled eggs for me.

DP otoh adds milk to scrambled eggs and tbh they are quite nice albeit with less defined flavour.

WoTmania · 20/06/2011 13:36

He is WRONG. YANBU

sunshineandbooks · 20/06/2011 13:42

Confused I always add milk to both (though only a splash to an omelette).

onlydean · 20/06/2011 13:58

So I come home from my night shift to make some lovely breakfast for my lovely Bertiebotts this morning to get the loving thankful reply I was expecting;

'Why don't these eggs have any milk in?!'

I'd agree with the people here that eggs shouldn't have milk in, in my opinion without milk is so much better, however adding them to some already heated butter is lovely!

BertieBotts · 20/06/2011 14:05

Haha, I didn't say that. I think I actually complained about being woken up before DS was up. But yeah. Stalker. Wink

Scrambled Eggs only need milk if you need them to stretch further otherwise just melt a small knob of butter add salt and pepper then the eggs and whisk on a gentle heat - Delicious

onlydean · 20/06/2011 14:06

pure lies

fatlazymummy · 20/06/2011 14:10

You are right . Omelettes should not have milk in them
And in my world scrambled eggs shouln't even exist.

EggyAllenPoe · 20/06/2011 15:23

i don't put milk in either. lots of butter however....

JoySzasz · 20/06/2011 15:32

I do the same as sunshine -both taste just fine!

SirGinster · 20/06/2011 15:36

No milk ever gets in my scrambled eggs or omelettes. Just butter.

iwanttoseethezoo · 20/06/2011 15:44

I put milk in both scrambled egg AND omelette. And will continue to do so.
