Ok so it's after midnight. but the teen and the toddler are finally asleep. Washing and ironing are done. I have Pink's greatest hits playing and a glass of wine. Is it a bit too late to be trawling Mumsnet for gossip, sedition, etc.

madhattershouse It is the only time I have to myself. I only need at least 4-5 hours sleep to keep going anyway. My brain seems to form endelss lists for tomorrow, next week next month etc. I actually sleep with a pen and pencil next to the bed for moments of clarity!

5DollarShake Lucky you. My Ideal country, Would they accept a slovenly proof reader with a perchant for wine? PS I love lamb....

Hello midnight owls. I do need to go to bed, work in the morning - I often pop on here "just for half an hour" once the kids are in bed. And now look at the time.....

I should go to bed, but this is just so exciting. I'm withyou madhatter - there isnot much conversation to be had elsewhere at this time of night, and this is all quite funny, educational, moving - all sorts really.

My first name on here was isitmidnightalready - I might have to go back to it. It is most appropriate, still.

But now I am DEFINATELY going to bed.

Goodnight Jimbob, goodnight MaryLou

I'm often on here at this time; I'm insomniac and post-midnight TV is total rubbish.

And I like ironing - very relaxing Blush.

royaljelly · 20/06/2011 01:33

WhereYouLeftIt I iron in front of the TV when the soaps are on then I can zone out. Usually I have a pile the size of Kilimanjaro to do.

Where yoy left it, I'm with you...insomniac who is bored of watching the same late night crap on tv!

Awomancalledhorse · 20/06/2011 01:35

YOU* not yoy. Oy!

royaljelly · 20/06/2011 01:35

tigercametotea I have been using Natio concealer and also mineral foundation as I seem to have the dreaded 30yr old acne at the moment.

I'm here too, currently at work but got no patients at the minute Grin

royaljelly · 20/06/2011 01:41

Maybe we should have an Insomniacs R Us club? Late shift workers welcome?

Aha....at last I meet the inconsiderate who nicked the name I wanted!

Have a quick Brew before your next patient izzyb - no sugar and I've gone easy with the cyanide.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy: It has it's benefits and pitfalls when you don't sleep.. Great for internet gossip though!

NiteOwlsRUs - you can sign me up to that rj.

The small hours are when I run through the day ahead, and catch up with rellies and friends in the US, Far East, and Down Under.

I live in the great metrops and love the stillness of the city at this time - although all the pubs around Smithfield, Billingsgate, and New Covent Garden will be doing a roaring trade in the next few hours.

Awomancalledhorse · 20/06/2011 01:56

izzy, thing I miss most about central london (living in the stick now) is being able to take a bus ride around the city at night. It's so peaceful at this time.

RJ, I'll join the club!

royaljelly · 20/06/2011 02:00

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy It may sound geeky but my favourite is going out for a 'smoke' and seeing all the stars. Thankfully I live in a village where they are really visible.

If we started a I.R.U. (Insomniacs R Us) club I have no idea where it would belong. Ideas are welcome.

I think there should be somewhere for us to chat about latenight sh*t without having to trawl other threads.

It's unlikely that it would have been peaceful on London's buses at this time 24 and 48 hours ago horse!

I miss being able to see the night sky in all its glory - most nights I'm lucky if I can see Venus and an odd star or two.

royaljelly · 20/06/2011 02:07

Ok seccumbing to sleep now. Off to read a few pages of novel and as per usual fall asleep with book in hand.

What's that saying about minds thinking alike rj - I didn't see your reference to stars until I'd posted on astral matters.

Sadly, I have to puff on a little something if I want to see stars Grin or pour another Wine.

Awomancalledhorse · 20/06/2011 02:11

Grrrh, I live in the sticks..not just in ONE stick.
izzy, I have a great, insomniac, mate & we used to get the bus down to Bar Italia, walk to Monument..then we'd walk all the way home to Kensington.
You're right though! Buses were always full of drunks singing all manner of songs, eating kebabs. Awww the good ol days!

The sky in London does suck. But it just makes me appreciate it more when I do see it properly.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 20/06/2011 02:34

Good grief - hiking from Monument back to K&C is not my idea of a good night out, horse.

Sounds like you kept Manolos going singlehandedly - or should that be 'footedly'?

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 20/06/2011 02:50

Morpheus calls - I'm off to get some zzzzz's. Hope to see ya all after midnight.
