The licence requires questions to be asked to ensure only occasional use and counsel on that too. They require sale to be refused and referral to GP if people buying regularly as opposed to maybe a packet for Christmas party season and another for summer holidays IYSWIM. Unfortunately people as my story shows get round it sometimes to their own harm.

They generally put on restrictions on P licences like not selling canestan to pregnant women although can be prescribed. Get a lot of abuse because MWs tell their patients to go buy it yet as much sympathy as we have cannot sell it and have to send them back along to the surgery they just came from.

With Imigran their is actually a lot of paperwork required and the patient requires a card to buy it.

I once ended up calling an ambulance for a man arguing that I should sell him some zantac. he was showing cardiac symptoms. He tried to hit me for i.

I'm surprised. ASDA sold me cetirizine liquid when DS getting frustrated with tablets and I mentioned we already had chlorphenamine (puriton) on px but the cetirizine on tablet px.

Was only last month when both ran out and went to get px for both did I discover they are unlicensed to suggest taking both at the same time. Confused. Still gave me both as the chlorphenamine is prescibed as 'as directed by consultant' as he takes 10ml instead of 5ml if needed.

It seems very strange to me.

AND btw if you run out of an emergency med (inhaler/ allergy meds etc etc) you can ring GP and get px for same day. Or at least mine has before.

In Scotland the pharmacist can prescribe repeat medication if you have run out of it at the weekend or something like that. Unless its a controlled drug that is.

You can use things off licence when prescribed youare . Some extra restrictions and legally the prescriber is supposed to tell you they are prescribing off licence. They rarely do IME. The pharmacist was bending the rules slightly in selling the liquid when you had the tablet script.

I also tried to buy Piriton or own brand from Asda and was told that I but these to often and go to doctor. The doctor knows I take these I am allergic to so many things (perfumes, artificial perfumes, like room fragrances etc) that I would have to stay in my own house and never go out. If I don't take them as a preventative I could have an asthma attack. The chemist said get them on prescription then. Thought I was doing my bit to help the NHS and the doctors time.
Chemist said looking after my wefare as can be abused!!!! Can you get high on Piriton then?

It might be better to start a new thread katmas. This thread is from 2011 so presumably the ops son can get his own piriton now...
