I might be out on my own here (probably am), but why is it that people think they can define people's moral/ethical worth simply by reference to some perceived idea of social class? And when you refer to 'middle'/'working' class, what are you actually envisaging?

I would recommend Kate Fox's book 'Watching the English' for a comprehensive look at the different behaviours of the classes.

I've just finished reading that. I much preferred Jilly Cooper's Class and Lynda Lee Potter's Class Act. The latter being a modern take on the former.

No - you can get good and bad in any class.

The Jilly Cooper book may date back to the 1970s, but I think it encapsulated the basic class structure pretty well (haven't read the others), and though occupations have changed, and "slebs" have replaced the "telestocracy", it's still readily recognisable.
