to tell someone their kids can't walk across my garden?

bit Confused really. just went outside for the bins, and found two small girls cutting the corner off by walking across our pebbles. (we are a corner house, large garden at front/side, pavement beside it). I smiled, and said ooh no, you can't do that, then realised mum was there - she told me yes, it was quicker! So i kind of explained that no, i didn't want kids trekking across my garden.
it messes them all up, they have to walk right next to my front door and flowerbed to come out the other side, risking treading all over the new plants - i'm so Shock any parent would say it's fine.

How fucking rude.

Get a sign that says you use chemicals on your lawn and its safe to walk on. Then turn the hose on the mother.

omg i crack up when my kids stand on peoples grass lol, we live i a row of semi detached houses where we arent allowed fences or hedges and my kids constantly walk on the edge of the grass rather than the pavement (albeit sometimes cos the owner has parked their car so far on the pavement you havent really got a choice) and i tell them off, mainly because im a fuddy duddy who hates people walking on MY grass Blush

KittyBump · 14/06/2011 16:37

YANBU - I did this a few weeks ago, I was just about to reverse of my drive when two young girls started walking over my lawn (corner property, so cutting the corner off their route) I rolled my window down and said 'please could you not do that as you're walking across my garden'. I then realised one girl was actually a woman of about 30 and probably the other girl's mum. She mumbled an apology and got off the grass.
Then all day I felt bad for having told someone off!

I always tell my DS not to walk/cycle/anything on others grass/gardens. People do it to ours all the time, grrr Angry
