Nicely phrased altinkum, I agree.

SarahStratton · 13/06/2011 23:17

Some basic manners would have been nice.

Pandemoniaa · 13/06/2011 23:55

"My bad"?

Hmm
Mumcentreplus · 14/06/2011 00:05

Oh relax...fucking hell everyone getting bend out of shape are you all precious rose petals or something?..this is MN don't even try it...

LolaRennt · 14/06/2011 02:24

Um odd OP.

But I read the story to DH and he said of course she brought boiling water, when you have you first baby you sterilize everything, she wouldn't assume anyone was dunking her baby's foot in it unless they said as much. Which I pretty much agree with.

The midwife sure as hell should have checked the temp as well. I mean checking bath temp is kind of Baby 101 isn't it? The bowl must have felt very hot when she touched it.

BitOfFun · 14/06/2011 03:00

Shitty OP, and an arrogant rude response to that being pointed out.

PenguinArmy · 14/06/2011 03:46

I do like being told what to do Hmm

WorzselMummage · 14/06/2011 04:45

What was the mum thinking ? Confused

She 'unwittingly' got scalding hot water instead of warm.. Warned the midwife if was hot and then watched her stick her babies foot in it? Really ?

I'm sure the midwife at ultimately at fault but the mum need to take some of the responsibility too.

spiderslegs · 14/06/2011 04:52

Intelligent journalism from the Sun, as ever.

Why are we discussing this???

jasminetom · 14/06/2011 07:59

I didn't find this story distressing at all, just mildly irritating. It is a mixture of incompetent midwives and poor communication. It's interesting that she chose to sell her story to The Sun. I would not be comfortable cashing in on my children in this way. It is a non-story as far as I am concerned.
She looks like Catherine Tate made up to look like a person who has sold her story to the Sun.

jasminetom · 14/06/2011 08:05

I also think it's a bit precious to get in a fuss about the story. It isn't as if it is graphic. I get far more upset reading about the things that happen in the big wide cruel and unfair world, in proper papers not the blooming Sun. I encounter people here who don"t even get to live with their babies because it's more important to work as a maid to lazy Brits and send the £100 a month salary home to the Phillipines to feed their families. You people have no idea.

hellospoon · 14/06/2011 21:47

I hardly think i deserved being called a bastard Hmm

mumsnet never fails to amaze me...

Jasminetom, that is patently ridiculous. There are starving children in Africa too, better go round all the other threads telling people to stop moaning, eh?

I didn't even click the link, I'm not interested. But i opened the thread to see who the bossy OP was Grin

jasminetom · 15/06/2011 03:58

It is a picture of a healthy baby with a bandage on it's foot. What is there to cry about?

If the water was so hot though, was there no steam?
