I am probably becoming some sort of dried up harridan but I have just seen an advert that made me want to rip out my own eyeballs

WTF is going on with advertising lately? Is it 1971 or 2011?

I have just seen an advert for, I believe Tena Lady, although the product was frankly irrelevant and it could easily have been for a diet/chocolate bar/bodywash. Woman in corridor at work (I think) struggling for reasons which were indeterminable with the hemline of her dress which kept riding up above her pants. I think the hem was stuck in a lift door. Not sure really. Naturally an attractive man was on hand to witness her embarrassment, and the revealing of the pants (and acres of toned thigh).

There are so many effing adverts like this at the moment and I am sick of it, frankly.

That's all. As you were.

We had this last week on here op
yawn yawn yawn

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 13/06/2011 21:28

It is a stupid advert, Georgimama... although I have to say, this kind of thing would happen to me only if I weren't wearing knickers that match my dress, but greying, grubby ones, or none at all... Blush

The bloke should have averted his eyes as well, not just stood there gaping...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 13/06/2011 21:30

That's so rude, pumpernickel. Put your hand in front of your mouth if you're going to yawn... perhaps keep it fastened there?

Georgimama · 13/06/2011 21:30

Oh I'm terribly sorry pumpernikel, I must have missed the memo.

OP posts:
bluebobbin · 13/06/2011 21:30

I thought it was awful as well.

NorthernGobshite · 13/06/2011 21:31

YANBU
awful awful advert.

EnnuiGo · 13/06/2011 21:31

ah yes - the assumption that once we hit 40 we al piss ourselves all the time and it's our little secret.

The swimming costume slimming one is awful too (not sure what it's for - but basically look better than your mates in a cossie - bitch) - and very 1971. I fear we are steadily heading backwards in time.....

GreenEyesandHam · 13/06/2011 21:32

Some of us haven't seen every thread over the last few weeks pumpernickel, did you mean to be so rude?

Yes I saw the ad for the first time this morning and grumbled about it. Pah

pumpernickel10 · 13/06/2011 21:34

I think I should lyingwitch
It's only an advert afterall

WowOoo · 13/06/2011 21:35

Georgimama, I've only just seen ad and was also unaware of another thread.

Yep, it's 1971. ....And I'm young again.

Mumcentreplus · 13/06/2011 21:35

Am I the only one who wants to kick the shit out the Birds Eye bear?..I'm on fucking holiday and you talk to me about prawns ...pass me something sharp!

pumpernickel10 · 13/06/2011 21:36

I was kidding greeneyes about the yawn bit bit yes there was the same thread last week. I know it's a real like problem but this is an advert

sunshineandbooks · 13/06/2011 21:36

BitOfFun introduced me to which says all that needs to be said about advertising aimed at women. Grin

Mumcentreplus · 13/06/2011 21:36

I971 and I'm growing in mums tum...Grin

SybilBeddows · 13/06/2011 21:36

that doesn't make you a dried-up harridan OP.
don't apologise for being bloody fed up with bloody sexism.

Intothevoid · 13/06/2011 21:37

I think you need to lighten up a bit - have you seen the one with the ripped black dude? "look at your man, now at me, now your man, now me, he's not me etc etc"

We need to be able to accept ourselves for we are and others for what they are.

EnnuiGo · 13/06/2011 21:38

The Bird's Eye Bird is soooo based on some sort of abusive ex.

While we're at it - am i the only one who finds the Dad emailing his DD throughout her young life anything but sweet - i'm not suggesting it's perverse or anything - just really creepy.....hard to explain.

Georgimama · 13/06/2011 21:39

No I haven't seen an advert with a "ripped black dude". That also sounds charming.

I saw this advert for the first time in the last ad break on Dave. I don't much telly.

pumpernickel10 · 13/06/2011 21:40

Is that the new brut advert?

IHateMarlo · 13/06/2011 21:43

The new old spice add

pumpernickel10 · 13/06/2011 21:46

Knew it was one or the other

Mumcentreplus · 13/06/2011 21:48

I find it annoying Ennui ...

I thin the Old Spice ad is bluddy brill..

realhousewifeofdevoncounty · 13/06/2011 21:49

But luckily, she was wearing tena lady, so at least her pants weren't all pissy! (or bleached, but again, that was another thread!) Grin
