To not let DS fight

DS is 11, in Year 6. I've just heard (from his friend) that he's due to fight another boy from his class this afternoon at a field nearby. I confronted DS ahd he said that yes, it's true, and if he doesn't go, everyone will call him a wuss. I'm not going to let him go. AIBU?

yanbu
playground scuffles and a wee bit of self defence at that age is fine, but a proper 'fight' - I would say no also.
I would also let the school know without hesitation of these 'arrangements' - doesnt matter that it is scheduled to happen off site and outwith school hours.

Oh goodness, can you tell him not to be such a nob head and that 'over my dead body will you be going'. He will need you to lay down the law to him because he has a lot to risk if he backs down himself.

Depends, if he is likely to win YABU if he would lose, phone the police Blush

Hi there, sorry for not posting earlier. I ended up going with him to that field to make sure nothing happens and luckily, the other child didn't turn up. Maybe I saw the worst that could have happened and panicked a bit - I know these things can escalate out of proportion, so was determined to not let anything happen. Luckily, it was just a minor argument.
